Where is the best place to Sluice for gold im melbz?

Hi just wondering where do people think the best place in Melbourne would be to take a home made Sluice and give it a go?
All so is it illegal?any suggestions and why?

Hi SilverMernda, you will need to first purchase a miners right from the DPI website: http://www.dpi.vic.gov.au/earth-resources/exploration-and-mining/prospecting-and-fossicking.

Once purchased, feel free to peruse the forum. There are plenty of spots. Hit the local creek, just check where you are going with your local DPI office.
