I would be happy to start a club up in Sydney. So if there's any Sydney people on here let me know.

Nice, I just gave it a like.

I'm new to metal detecting so would appreciate any tips about where to look for stuff in Sydney. I hear Bondi Beach has a lot of competition... is this true?

I know there aint any gold immediately around Sydney but where is the nearest goldfield? Bathurst? Finding nuggets would be a dream come true.

Maybe there is competition,. but no-one owns a beach though, I say go for it, look in the lower sections where the water washes in or out the front of surf clubs and erosion zones which are by far the best spots. The life guards and surfers are always cool, they know you will remove sharp and dangerous bits of junk you come across. This is over Northern Beaches, hav'nt detected on the the "Dark side" of the city, lol.

Manly Beach is well patrolled, have a go there, mainly get hassled more by the curious than a nutter.

Actually the nearest goldfields are say, Sunny Corner near Lithgow or around Oberon. Or Oallen Ford, a touch further. All a couple of hours from Sydney, not too far.

Thanks for the replies Heatho, will definitely be bringing my detector next time I am passing through those areas. I'll also give detecting at my local beach a go, on the south coast near Wollongong, not as popular as Bondi but who knows?

Me too, am based in inner south west. Anyone else in southern half of sydney ?

Hi all I'm new to the page. I just got my first detector a Garrett ATX was just wondering if there are any clubs or groups near casino nsw?

Hi All.

I'm keen on starting up a prospecting/fossicking club in Western Sydney. I'm based in Penrith.

I would like to find other people that are interested:-
- Prospecting/Fossicking either for gems or minerals either on day trips or weekend trips when it gets warmer.
- Metal Detecting on weekends (until daylight savings starts atleast) day or night.
- Any other activities - Coin Shooting, Treasure Hunting, Cache Hunting, etc.

Let me know if anyones keen.

Cheers. Andrew

I think Russell has gone a little quiet, his last login was back in Feb.. For anyone wanting to meet up in the area, all it takes is someone to take the lead and set a day, time and location :D
