The TEGM - Top End Gem and Mineral Club is seeking to affiliate with like clubs around Australia for the exchange of ideas and honorary memberships to visitors.
Our club is the sole lapidary club in the greater Darwin area of the NT and has operated continuously for 53 years. Right now we're experiencing a fairly rapid growth in memberships to the extent that we're looking into larger alternate venues.
The club is structured into 2 x groups being Ordinary members (adults) and Associate Members (kids and teenagers).
Within Ordinary members we have Life Members and a recently established Rock Carvers group.
We also have the necessary facilities for sawing, cabbing, faceting, silver-smithing and wire wrapping.
Associates have 2 x separate groups:
(1) RAFFK - Rocks Are Fun For Kids for youngsters up to around age 12 years.
The kiddies are given fun lessons on earth sciences and do various craft work.
(2) Juniors - Aged from around 13 years to 18 years.
Juniors get more hands on working with hand tools such as Dremels.
