This must be a very thin coin to be 23k gold and an inch in diameter (25mm), but only weigh 3.48 grams. For comparison, it's slightly bigger than a sovereign (22k), that weighs almost 8 grams!
 
Most Hammered coins are very thin compared to milled coins. Interesting that they could make and strike a coin to 3.48 grams in that age.
