Went for a detect after work today , seems like forever since I swung a machine . Wasnt expecting much and was more interested in the exercise and fresh air. Detector used was the Knox with a big coil rather than the CTX , purely because of weight and not wanting to over do it . Even so I think I will be fairly ginga tomorrow.

Finds were slow coming due to the pandemic , but I did find Jesus and Mary , a 9ct ring and a silver Pandora amongst a bit of coinage and costume jewellery (and re-discovered my passion for detecting)

Here are the pics

Happy hunting

My last detect was a little while back on a permission over a few days on and off. Three little silvers that I gave to the owners and a few pennies and such. Was lucky in they let me detect just because I always wondered what was there, so they let me satisfy my curiosity.... and I did.

Good to see your still getting a coil down mate !
:power:  :Y:

Good to hear your still picking up the silvers , Silver

Thanks Dan, had every intention of averaging one a week in January (for the year).... slipped a lot though lol.

Who knows though, I could hit an untouched little patch between now and Crissy hey :p

Gotta keep working those nature strips Silver :p . The closest I got to a pre dec was a 1 cent coin yesterday , but happy just to swing and get back into it . Ive been eating too many jam doughnuts and vanilla slices and put on a bit of a belly mate :) and need the exercise ( seriously how nice are vanilla slices after a day in the office , and give me half a dozen jam doughnuts for lunch too.)

Glady you got out for a swing.
I'm looking forward to having a swing soon myself.
I'll just have to read the Nox manual again first.
Once your out there , it takes about 10 minutes Smokey to get familiar with setting .

Tell me about it Dan.....

On the hustings this arvo after work . Purely water detecting today along one of the inlets . Geez it was tough going with the ctx and big coil which I forgot to switch over .

Not that much about but the coil did pick up a 958 hallmarked earring , which was a surprise . No fresh drops at the moment and most coins were at the edge of the range of the ctx .

I eventually grinded to a halt due to the weight of the ctx and parked up . A few of the blokes that were in the area came to chat about the ctx with a few beers .( very much appreciated:))

Anyways here are the pics , nothing spectacular , but a fun time anyway . The gold ring was a bit of reward for effort from the detecting gods .

Out and about for the first hunt for 2022 . Good detecting weather gave me plenty of options to choose with so much erosion and scarping around . I decided To go with 3 detectors on this hunt with 2 Equinox machines kitted up with a small coil and one with a large , and the ctx3030 with a large coil . Started the day early with 5 locations in mind . The first 2 locations produced , with some interesting targets however there were no cutaways and the scraping was minimal . Third location of the day had a 100 meter cutaway with some hardpack sand below exposed with steaks of black. It was this area that I focused on as it looked bloody good . The first target hit was a ring although costume It was a good sign the area might yield plenty . And it didnt disappoint. The coinage was plentiful and the costume jewellery kept on coming with a chain and another ring . It wasnt long before I hit my first gold ring, a vintage 1957 type hallmarked at 18ct . A second gold ring popped up shortly after , a Versace 9ct . Another detectorist popped down with his son and a nokta macro , we got speaking and his wife had sent him down with specific instructions to find a ring ( no pressure hey) . Anyway I noticed that he was swinging about 8 inches of the ground as he had no training, purchasing the detector online or from One of the retail outlets . Anyways I gave them a few tips on how to swing and what to look out for and pointed them in the right direction where I knew there might be some targets . Anyways it was good to see the bloke getting his boy into a healthy hobby . By then I was almost done except for some goldies and they final target being a 925 silver ring saw me declare . Anyways here are some pics.
