Mount Crawford Gems

Done plenty of gold detecting in the crawford area but planning a gemstone hunting trip soon.
Where do I start looking in this area, gravels in the creek or through the pines? What's the geology I should be looking for :gemstone:

Call into the rangers station they have mud maps that will help. Then mud-maps have been around for years so are a bit dated but a good place to start. Beryl's and tourmaline have been found in the pegmatite.
