Looks pretty ordinary, any idea what they were like new or what period it was from.

Found Creswick area ..... Any suggestions for cleaning without doing too much damage ????

Molasses maybe as your 1st cleaning agent otherwise bicarb soda and vinegar.

If the button is copper use tomato sauce just smother it and leave for a couple of hours works a treat on 1 & 2 cent coins cheers Muk.
