Great day out last weekend

Found my first (very small) sapphire last weekend at Grabben Gullen - a big thanks to Matt the Magic Man, who we met out there, for the handy tips for a beginner like myself! Looking forward to heading back out!

p.s. The picture is a little misleading - it actually looks pale blue to the naked eye - this is under a USB microscope and it came out much greener for some reason.

Those usb microscopes look like the do a good job. Saw them a while ago on ebay but couldnt think of enough uses to buy one

Thanks all. Yes, the USB microscopes are surprisingly good! This pic is only at 50x...the microscope goes up to 500x as well (but nothing in between). The dream, of course, is to be at the point where a microscope is not required .
