I carry a DD, I don't know why because I've hardly ever fitted it. I tried it on iron discrimination and agree with Dave, it cut out big gold nuggets that it thought was horse shoes. For that reason I don't use discrimination when searching for gold.

A dd can save your hunt when the soil is still wet from rains, even if surface is dry wet pockets can create havoc in alkali desert areas.
