Hello Friends,

Well I finally got to get out and use the Equinox for the second time since buying it, but this time with the Detect-Ed carbon red belly shaft. Firstly Let me say I have no association with the company, I'm just an average consumer explaining in brief my experiences with the product and hoping to give you a bit of insight if you are considering an upgrade of your equipment.

I went to a nice spot out at Windsor, albeit windy and extremely cold, fortunately I had my winter gear on, T-shirt, shorts and work boots (thongs). The first time I used the machine I thought it was extremely light, but after adding the Detect Ed shaft it made a noticeable difference in terms of weight (approximately 40%, which I would agree with) and comfort, and eliminates the dreaded shaft wobbles in launch models. It also looks great as well, I can see why it's aptly named the red belly.

Swinging this detector for a few hours was no problem. I went for two hours in total and found not much of anything, but that the intention was a lesson in numbers and getting a general feel for the equipment. Although I was pretty bloody happy within the first half hour I found my first $2 coin! Also some weird looking pottery that was buried with what looks like Lead- no idea what this is?

Things to keep in mind with the Detect Ed. Make sure you have a small Phillips head screw driver on hand or ensure you tighten the screws up as per the pics below, to avoid any shaft rotation, which I did so it was no problem.

Another great feature is that the shaft is two pieces of carbon fibre as apposed to the stock three piece shaft with one piece being metal. The detect Ed shaft collapses into a very manageable length for carrying. If you removed the coil it would easily fit into a backpack.

I can honestly say it was a really enjoyable experience, one of the best few hours I've had out in sunshine for a while and the detect Ed shafts and were great I'd recommend them to anyone with a 600 or 800 and gets a big thumbs up :Y: I paid $162 for the complete combo kit, or if you prefer black it's only $130 and shaft pieces can be purchased individually.

Overall I like the fact that it's an Aussie made product. Next weekend I'm heading to the beach with the SITO sand scoop, will post up all of the diamond rings and gold jewellery I bring back. :p
