I'd be interested.. matter of fact I'm heading to Seven Mile this weekend (Nanango area) for a lazy weekend of detecting and panning.. if you up that way and you'll see a dark grey Ford Ranger with the alum roof rack, that would more than likely be me, come say hi. :)

Hi Wayne, I'm from Mel and will be looking to go detecting for about 3-5 months next year. Inbox me if you or anyone else are keen.

For those NOT aware.

Brisbane Metal Detecting Club has been running since 1995.

The Brisbane Metal Detecting Club (BMDC) is a non-profit organisation for metal detecting enthusiasts in Brisbane and surrounding areas.

We meet the 3rd Thursday of MOST months, with a break over Christmas and on occasions during the cooler months, when many members head off to chase the golden dream.

Hey All,

I found a link to http://queenslandprospectingclub.org/ on the NAPFA website hoping to find a South East Queensland based club but the link appears dead.

Anyone know of any clubs etc?
there pretty much isn't any Brisbane has one on the northside and know one has ever been interested in starting one have seen a few posts from a few years ago was all pretty negative
better off finding some people around your area and go out with them
what area are you ?

The BMDC has been going for about 15 years.

Meet the 3rd Thursday of every month.

Another started in or around gladstone.

The issue for many is that once you register a club - then your obliged to follow all the rules and regulations other wise sitting members and the club can be held accountable.

And once you advise club members that Public parks and many other places are OUT of BOUNDS; then they never return. In addition, when people are told that Finders Keepers is in breach of the law re. Lost property; some get even more dissatisfied.

We do Gold trips on private permissions and Beach trips and some Private permissions for coins etc. And as a club we also have Public Liability (Only valid if we are operation/behaving in a legal and proper activity) and when we do Gold then members are covered by the Club fossicking licence.

PS. Over winter we go into slow mode as many members go to WA or Vic or far north to chase the yellow. And many just hit Warrick and other such places.

I'm in Chermside but don't mind getting out to Warwick...

Yeah you would have more luck looking for old places such as war sites etc no gold has been ever found near Caboolture its a myth mate

Yeah I would check around but no hold has WVER been found at Caboolture only Gympie , and further out , it is impossible to find gold there mate try Clermont , it would be far easier to get a few interested to chip on and take a trip there
