Hi all, a friend of mine found this at the beach while detecting. Any thoughts on what it might be? It's about 7cm long and quite heavy.
He thought perhaps an old scent bottle? I can't really see an internal thread but it does almost look like a finial or top off something....

Yes it is an old brass curtain rod tip
 
I'm with Greg Wilson on this one. A brass cord weight for blinds or some kind of pull switch - ceiling fan, ceiling/wall light etc.
Check if the top can screw off it, if it's not too stuck with age.
The small hole suggests it's where a cord is threaded through to me.
The shape being 'tassel-like' makes me think it's most likely a curtain cord pull weight.
