Always check your hot rocks when detecting , most meteorites sound off !
And some are worth more per gram then Gold .

I've found two small ones that have been verified , still have them .
They are older then our earth .

Jack .

I thought that any meteorites found in Australia had to be handed in to the government?
I think some even have gemstones in them. Little green stones. Cant remember their name to early lol

Each state has its own rules regarding meteorites. Crazy isn't it, one country but different rules depending on where you are at the time.
Yeah some rules are hard to keep track of.
I only metioned it because we have a lot of craters and meteorites in oz and they can be valuable so i would of thought there would be more hobbyists chasing them

Guess What ''' almost all meteorites are now found in NSW .
Why is that ? because it's legal to find keep & sell them in NSW !
But you do need permission to export .

All the other states & territories own any meteorites found .

How comes that they found it in QLD and were able to keep or sell, must be same policies there like in NSW?

Good day!
Does anyone know personally those prospectors or how to contact them?

I'd like to ask them for an advise. I've found in the same location and same year a 9.6kg same type meteorite(most likely from same meteor shower fall). I've actually met them back there and they told me to "..you better go back and pick it up, it could be a meteorite, we found one here."Because I've chucked it back to the hole I've found it :D
