Thankyou so much for all this incredibly handy info, for newbies like myself. Great place to start. I've been collecting stones since I was a kid, still go out looking at least once a month. Recently bought a metal detector MD-3006 looking forward to trying it out now that Springs warmer weather is here.

Update:- 30/03/2021.
Joined Adelaide Detector club, purchased a Minelab Equinox800. Have been on a few field trips but with Covid-19 been unable to get to the gold fields.
