Agatised carrot?

I came across this agatised looking rod that seems to have age rings? I'm not sure if it's wood, a vegetable, a cephalopod or some kind of man made ceramic of sorts?

Any help appreciated, it was found in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia.

Looks a bit like the stem of a large gorgonian or black coral fan on the outside, but like rust inside. Is it magnetic?

Yes it is magnetic, mostly on the flatter, low parts. Bits where there is a conglomerate build up are only slightly magnetic. The white rings are also only slightly magnetic. Almost like a metal rod through it. The attached video should better show what I'm referring to. Rotating view and close-up

It seems to me that the fact that it's magnetic indicates that it's manmade. Perhaps it's the degraded remains of some type of sacrificial anode for an industrial storage tank or pipeline.

Yeah it could be a degraded one with some plastic tubing still attached. Thanks for your input!

I would swear the inside is concrete with a thin re bar in it by the rust pattern.
The outside needs dabbing on a grinder to identify if it is stone like or hard plastic or ceramic.
Could be a ceramic insulted electrical component,
Or a wooly mammoth tusk
