Thanks Dave.

There's a variety of pans on the market but my personal favorites are the Garrett 14" Prospectors Pan followed by the Garrett 15" Super Sluice. Check out these topics for previous discussions on pans and pan selection.

In terms of where to buy them, take a look at our sponsors section https://www.prospectingaustralia.com/forum/viewforum.php?id=24

I hope that helps.

Thanks Nugget the thing I am liking about this forum is the speed that replies come back. I will check out those links.

Hello Nugget, this is a very useful list and a good introduction to the subject. For people like myself, I require the basic facts without flim flam..thanks for the info.

Markaw.

A question for all the "Old Timers" on here (very probably a dumb question), I have seen the sniffer bottles advertised, I understand they are for picking up the smaller pieces of gold, however yesterday while watching a member video on here, I seen that they were using one filled with water?, Would someone please give me a quick run down on how they work? cheers Guys. Ned :8

Hydraulic suction based on displacement. Push sides in, place nozzle near submerged gold, release sucking up gold. Initially the bottle does not need to be filled, the water content accumulates as you suck it up.

Thanks Goldtarget, had the idea how to use the bottle, just couldn't understand the water, thought it may force whatever gold you had in the bottle with the water, to escape, that's all, cheers ned

Thanks Nugget! Just starting out and planning my first trip to the golden triangle next month.
Great reads..

Is there a section for tips and questions. How to spot a.good area. Beach. Parks. Old Building. Etc. More for us newbies to know what to look for Cheers. Dave.

thanks for those links as i am trying to get all the things together for my first attempt at gold detecting and so far its very confusing with lots of info out there but lots are contradicting each other, slowly reading through this web site and seems down to earth and honest.
thanks in advance for the great posts on here everyone.
cheers Nick
