    Getting old?

How do you know if you're getting old? We recently took a pleasant holiday to Vanuatu. Much of our time was spent snorkelling the coral reef at various spots around the island of Efate. We also snorkelled with the fresh water fish in crystal clear water and enjoyed having table sized fish...

    Can you identify this.

    It's about 40mm tall.

    Spanner set

Can anybody tell me the purpose of this mini-spanner set. Sizes range from A to H with a feeler gauge and a flat screwdriver. They came amongst a bundle of old tools I bought off a guy in Perth some time back. I found these while looking for a thread tap. They are sure to be old because they...

Black Sand, what is it worth?

Panning can be therapeutic or frustrating. Perhaps that depends on your ability to do it well or in my case I find that some days it just doesn’t work for me. I can agitate the pan to get the gold down to the bottom. I can create gentle enough flow in and out of the pan to get the blondes...

    Wanted WANTED: HERITAGE GOLDFIELDS ITEMS

Hello there fellow prospectors. Mrs Moneybox here :D. So much for retirement.... I now run the Cue Heritage Centre Museum. It is 2 years old and just beginning to really develop its relics and items from the past. As Cue’s history is based on goldmining I am planning a display of old...

    Hotrocks and the GPX6000

I've mentioned before, the problems I've had swinging the GPX6000 amongst the hotrocks. I think some feel I'm exaggerating but I can assure you it's no fun digging lots of deep holes just to expose another hotrock.

    Making a video

We all like to sit back and watch an interesting video when we have the time but I don't see too many being posted here? I'm sure you all take a few snaps from time to time and there are some great video and photo editoring apps available these times. I almost always use Movavi Video Edtor but...

    Nice coin

Unfortunately it's not mine. I spent plenty when I was young but I've never found a florin. Mrs M has it in the Cue Heritage Centre. It's nearly as old as me but seems to be holding up a bit better 😂

    Buying from Temu

Have you taken a look at Temu. I have and I've bought stuff like electrical wire, SS ties, water pump, projector, trousers, switches and more for the new van. Mostly the quality seems good, the delivery time is excellent and the selection is great. However they upset me a couple of times and...

    A golden opportunity ;)

Gold Lease (link to add) This prospecting lease is one that we never get to. It's only just out of town but with so much to do and so little time it just doesn't get a look in. I've done the hard yards and put all approvals in place to have this lease ready to mine. We have six leases and I can...

    Camper construction

This is not my video and I've viewed it since I got into my project. Anyway it's not really suitable for my little camper but if I was building another big camper like the purple bus I'd certainly look closely at this alternative building method. I built in foam panel construction in the 80's...

    Black shiny rock

I found a patch of this black shiny rock. It doesn't affect the metal detector and it doesn't attract the magnet. I think it's volcanic glass that's been extruded from the quartz rock.

    Wanted - GPX6000 coil

Do you have a standard 11" mono coil for the GPX6000 that's no longer required? I'm considering carrying a spare if I can pick one up at the right price. I would need to sent express post or airbag to WA regional. Phil

    Carnival Glass

These are a few examples of the carnival glass connection we need to move on. We'll pick a few items and we are going to invite the carnival collectors in Perth to come and take a look. Many of the pieces are valued into the hundreds of dollars but we don't know much about it.

    Electrical advice please

I have a little 185W single phase motor that does a very nice job of running the tumbler through a little 15:1 gear box. The only problem is that it needs a nudge to start. I decided that it needed a capacitor to get it cranked up so last night after the 41°C had backed off a bit I went out...

    What have I found?

This is at an abandoned station. I tried to follow the arrow but I think you have to have a certain percentage of ☘️ in your blood 😂

    Where do I look?

I'm looking at a string of mines in close proximity to each other. I went out for another brief look today. I took the 30m tape measure with a short piece of chain attached to the end. I dropped the chain down three of these mines and they were all between 10m and 11m. They appeared to...

    Felix walking the fence.

Monday I received a call from Mrs M at work. She works at the Cue Heritage Centre developing their little museum. It's in the early stages but open to the public. One visitor, a 36 year old German man, walked into town pushing a cart with two tyres that had been punctured by double G's and more...
