QED PL3 Pulse Induction metal detector

This detector is in very god condition. Very little use. Great inexpensive detector for use in the goldfields or beach. Comes with waterproof 11" Detech spiral wound coil and 4 LI-ion batteries and charger. Very light detector weighing less than 2kg with batteries and speaker. Has been updated...

Hi goldrat Yes I forgot the ergonomic bit, nice to not be tethered to your detector all the time. I have spent a bit of time around laanecoorie and wanyarra areas also had a look north of dunolly recently. Don't get to get out that often hence the reason for not wanting a lot of money tied up in...

    QED Info Thread.

About 4 yrs ago I bought myself a 5k. I am probably not the sharpest tool in the shed but it took me a long time to come to grips with all the settings, if I ever did. After 18 months of ownership and a 0.13gm bit of gold to my credit I figured it wasn't real good earnings per dollar value of...

    Minelab Equinox tips and questions

Updated no problems. Haven't had mine long enough to know whether its an improvement or not. Did notice something funny going on with the user profile previously though. Never got to the bottom of it, thought I must have been doing something wrong. Thanks Trash. Cheers

That was the problem I was having but only on the deteknix. Other head phones plugged directly into the detector I tried worked ok. Didn't want to go mucking around with the internals of the QED. Eventually problem solved by putting a different plug on the transmitter. No idea why.

I have been using the deteknix setup (purchased from Nenad) on my QED since early last year with no problems. The tx unit is mounted under the shaft just below the control box. I use both headphones and earbuds and have no issues with volume, nor have I noticed any unwanted interference. The...

Question for a Newbie, Semi Grey nomad

That is exactly what I have done. Purchased QED when they first came out no regrets. Equinox 800 should arrive in the post next day or so for the beach. Best of both worlds.

Metal Detector advice High end over ~ $3000

I know Op has asked about SDC & ATX, but another option is QED. With an 8" commander coil it has been shown to be at least as good as the SDC at picking up small gold, much cheaper and weighs in at less than 1.4 Kg. with the 8" coil (SDC weighs 2.3Kg). and can be fitted with most of the after...

    QED

I think I have pretty much come to the same conclusion as mbasko with regards to the QED settings. I have the 14x9 advantage coil and believe I was making the mistake of trying to set it up to detect small stuff (in relation to the size of the coil) which in turn made the detector very sensitive...

Thanks for the reply Cando. Will be at Laanecoorie this w/end so may be able to try a detech coil

    QED

Hi Cando Nice post. I see in one of your earlier posts that you also have the detech 11". If you had to choose between that and the 14x9 advantage which one would it be? I have a 14x9 but have been wondering if I should go down the detech path. Cheers

Hi Krisco no the coil is NF advantage, was a leftover from previous detectors. I have no other coils to compare it with except for one I wound myself but have not bothered with that one at this stage.

I just use two 3.7v 18650 LI-ion batteries which lasts more than 6 hours. I carry a spare set which only takes a few minutes to swap over if needed. The total weight of the detector is less than 1.8kg. with 14x9 coil and find I can swing it all day without a bungy. Arm might be a bit sore the...

    QED Info Thread.

I have the 3.5mm plug on the deteknix TX unit which fits the QED without an adapter. The sennheiser headphones I use have a 3.5mm plug so I have to use the supplied adapter because the Deteknix RX unit has a 6.5mm socket, then I am only getting sound in one side of the headphones, but if I plug...
