    Jurassic Park

A quick pic of a hike we recently completed. We smashed our way through 20K of unmarked scrub, at times we could see no more than a couple of meters in front of us. Often being attacked by wasp nests we stumbled into. On our return journey we resorted to drinking swamp water to keep our ruck...

    A smorgasbord day fishing.

Finally got out to dip a line. Ended up at a rock I really didn't want to go to, usually GT's and queenie's not what I wanted. In fact this time not one GT or queenie. What we hooked up and got to the boat consisted of way to many coodas, a golden trevally, a bronze whaler, a trevally, three...

    Goodbye Coon

A family name hundreds of years old has been now deemed offensive. PC gone bonkers. When will it stop?

    How about

How about locking all the older folks up. Let the virus run rampant so we reach herd immunity. That way the younger generation can survive it through their stronger immunity. Any younger victims will be able to access a ventilator if required. Once herd immunity is attained the rate of...

    DPF's

Anybody had any problems with blocked DPF's putting a vehicle into limp mode while out bush? Trying to understand the law regarding deleting or emulating feed back from a DPF sensor to avoid limp mode occurring while out in the big back yard for safety's sake. Thanks.

    Singapore Ants

Anybody got any tips for dealing with these followers of satan? Two years ago they went through the telephone line, two a/c units, and one light switch. Last year was quiet Now they are back chomping their way into every packet in the cupboard. Costing a fortune in Mortein and lost food. And...

    Unusual place.............

Unusual place to find a large Ammonite fossil. The building was in a quiet, almost deserted, village called 'Salles-de-Villefagen' in Southern France. The building is probably around 250 yrs old. Found other smaller fossils in the stone work of other buildins but nothing close to this size.

De Beers will need a bigger shed.

In fact, they will need lots of sheds if they ever figure out how to get to these. https://www.independent.co.uk/environment/diamonds-hidden-centre-earth-quadrillion-tonnes-discovery-earthquake-sound-waves-a8451091.html

    Shots of stones

Just thought I'd put up some images of shots of stones that may or may not help others instead of filing Lefty's thread. Some food for thought really. But to be honest I have no idea what I'm doing apart from fumbling through. But someone may want to play with an idea. Probably won't be a hell...

For those who wish to check out Vulcan State Forest (AKA Black Springs of Sapphire Bend) with slightly better info. These files will contain information taken from many different samples - Date of sample, location (some of these I have had to convert from a different datum), size of sample...

    Gemstone magnetism

After reading the thread regarding olivine https://www.prospectingaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=26575 I started to wonder weather the peridot I had cut was glass sold as peridot rough because it's a very greenstone without a tinge. (although I was fairly sure from memory the rough...

Posting KML's or large PDF files

I have a load of info, sample size, depths, locations, results from EL's in Black Springs SF. Is it possible to post a KML or large PDF's (the reports)? Personally I don't believe all the info (although I'd love to be proved wrong) but does give insight into that very large diamond and how much...

    Tuning your Garmin

I have just finish tuning my Garmin 62 and thought others may be interested in doing so. It now has satellite imagery, topo maps and if I wish to, Navionics. To do this the firmware has to be updated to a newer version that has been patched than what it is already running. Even if it has the...

Boat people make it to Cape York!!!

The externally blowing SE trade winds finally died down and we decided we wanted to leave 'The Rock' as Thursday Island is known and make a crossing to the mainland. Finally we could break out and touch the mainland, real terra firmma. Wahoo. The crossing was pretty uneventful as we had chosen...
