Try Tuena, that's my go to place. Drive down through the camping area and cross the creek, once you are up the other side, hang left and follow creek around first bend then leg it across the creek to the flats. There look for accumulation of redish ironstone behind rocks, it is all flood gold...

Does anyone know the status of the campgrounds at Tuena are, and are they open and what is the river like. Thank STU :Y:

Only spent an hour and a half at Ruby hill,had to head back home. Took some material home to process later. Probably ended up with a couple of hundred carats of tourmaline, scales need calibration. Don't have any photos yet,phone cam not to good. Stu

Staggy Creek reserve was pretty good today, apart from a 3:30am start from the hunter valley. Got a few nice pieces of tourmaline as well as a couple of pieces of smokey quartz. Sleeping in car tonight near bingara, going call in to Ruby hill first thing tomorrow on my way home. Stu. :Y:

I bought a GS10 not long back. Found it was OK in the original configuration for sandier material, but for the likes of Tuena with it's iron stone I modified it with a catch tray above some breadcrate and kept the marine mat, plus slipped some mesh from a cat 2510 air filter to reduce the size...

Thanks Cliff and dwt, The best thing about doing it this way is the internal dimensions are the same as finished product, so everything I make for it ( ie riffles ) will fit in it. Stu

Thanks BB Thanks for the tip Tone, that's why I have done it this way instead of just making it out of ali straight off. So I can have a play around of different configurations. Eventually I want to have it so I can just have riffles and black ribmat for very low flow and be able to change it...

Decided to have a go at building my own sluice, but didn't want to dive straight in and build it out of ali. So decided to do a prototype out of timber I had laying around and build it to the same dimensions of the finished product. This way I can try out different configurations before I commit...
