    ⭐ Alluvial Show n Tell

Absolutely, yes it's small and the value is not huge but finding something that size in a pan these days is so rare and to me the sentimental value is huge. The best part was my partner was across the creek and witnessed my tears of joy, so a treasured memory that will last a lifetime!

    Hi Guys!

Yea good point, one thing I would also like to highlight. Becareful how you store your pans and tools in your bag, I had to replace a pan due to damage from the tools rubbing on the inside pan surface while in the mine lab bag. However the bag is great and I use it all the time

    Hi Guys!

Hey Morrispundey and welcome, I have the minelab gold pro kit with the classifier, 15" and 10" pan with snuffer bottle etc, roughly paid $85 front Anaconda and imo it was worth it. The classifier helps to remove large rocks so you can pan more efficiently. There is also a magnet(removes iron...

top layer of alluvial gold - Oallen Ford

Congrats, that's a great find! Walnliz has posted up some great info about the area and he strongly suggests not worth going under 40cm of burden. Apparently it's all flour gold there so most gold will be in the top surface loose dirt. Did you sluice up under the bridge or head down the...

    Gold Pans information and questions

I used the Eureka a hand full of times and unfortunately it cracked in the base, I found the polymer a weaker structure compared to the Mine Lab. Ill be interested in trying a garret pan next once my minelab decides to retire.

    Klondike placer (alluvial) mining

Why was it such hard yakah compared to the other places you mentioned? I could imagine the climate would play a significant challenge, especially winter... Apparently Yukon can see temperatues as low as 40 degree celcius and is one of the coldest parts of Canada. I have now stumbled across a...

    Klondike placer (alluvial) mining

That is amazing, we read about the gold rush in the 1800s and 1900s but it's been happening for much longer than that. Just crazy to think how many people have died chasing that dream. goldierocks, where are those photos from? I would love to see more.

Hi all, Joined the forum a few months back but missed the introduction, I thought it was better late than never! Located in the Gong, I started prospecting as a young teen with family but stopped a few years later, starting back up 15 years later as a small hobby for fitness and outdoors...

While using gold monster 1000 i found this in remote bushland

I'm 90% sure that is key steel (aka bright bar) like someone has suggested, those are drill marks. I think macca might be onto it too, someone has made a home made depth gauge with key steel. Measure it, I would say either 3/8" or 1/2"

    Porters Retreat

Update on Porters Retreat (Little River): Dirt road is closed (barricaded), however fossicking is still ok with a 5 min walk from the main road. I walked down and saw 2 vehicles down there, I suspect they moved the barricade.

    Orange > Wollongong

Hi guys/girls, I'm road tripping with my partner and she has granted me a few days of fossicking, my plan was to check out Porters Retreat(Little River) but I am looking for a backup option. I don't have a 4WD (foresterso my options are limited. If anyone has a suggestion for a few days of...
