How do you tell the difference between ground noise and a true target signal?

Yeah I think he would have a lot to contribute on here. Whenever I ask him a question regarding prospecting, I always get a straight up answer and he never tries to give convoluted answers and keep me guessing.

How do you tell the difference between ground noise and a true target signal?

So Steve from Erlistoun Station was kind enough to take me back to the spot with his tools. Turned out to be a giant hot rock. Was making sound all over on my machine (zero chance of pinpointing a spot), and he chipped a bit away and it didn't hesitate grabbing hold of his magnet. He was also...

How do you tell the difference between ground noise and a true target signal?

Okay, thanks for the tips. I'll go to it tomorrow and see if I can pin it down to a certain area. So if it screams all over the area, I should just dismiss it as a big hot rock? I have a feeling when I go over it, it will scream all over like I hit a horseshoe

How do you tell the difference between ground noise and a true target signal?

Thank you. It's not too far from where I'm camping, so I'll return to investigate further. Maybe the pastoral manager can lend me a hammer and chisel. From what I remember, the whole area of the rock was screaming (it was a pretty big area too). I think this is what convinced me that it's not...

How do you tell the difference between ground noise and a true target signal?

No pinpointer. I don't have a hammer and chisel either. How common is it for base rock to give off a sound with no gold with a 6000? If it's certainly gold, then I'll be happy to destroy my body to get at it, no matter how small. I'd be pretty depressed though if it's nothing. This was a...

How do you tell the difference between ground noise and a true target signal?

Did I make the right move or should I return to it as Schwarzenegger on my last day here and hope I don't break my pick?

How do you tell the difference between ground noise and a true target signal?

Hello, I'm glad I left this alone after reading your post (it is the rock base you see in the video) I chipped away the top, but saw no shiny, so I just took it as a giant hot rock and walked away. I'm in Laverton now, and I know what you mean in regards to hot rocks. I find the sound to...

Some general advise for WA Laverton area please

Hello Steve. I'm unfamiliar with this. When you say marked in part as CZL, are you talking about Tengraph when I right click on 'Find data on the map' when choosing a tenement?

Some general advise for WA Laverton area please

Hello everyone, I am in Laverton now. I arrived a couple of days ago and already found my first piece very close to town. I am as happy as Larry. However, there is way too much rubbish on the ground here for me to keep my sanity. My plan is to head either east (White Cliffs rd) or North East...

How do you tell the difference between ground noise and a true target signal?

Thank you. I'll keep that in mind re deeper targets. I feel I've done way too much digging, and I like the idea of spending more time detecting.

How do you tell the difference between ground noise and a true target signal?

Hello Geoff. After today, I know exactly what you are saying. I found several sub gram pieces today, and I can definitely now tell the difference most of the time. I've noticed if it's gold, it's a short mellow sound. If it's clay, it's still mellow, but it's a longer and more drawn out sound. I...

How do you tell the difference between ground noise and a true target signal?

Yeah, it's the only trouble I'm having. It gives off a very convincing sound too. I don't mind digging up pellets all day, but it get frustrating digging up nothing. Luckily for me there is lots of gravel here in certain areas.

How do you tell the difference between ground noise and a true target signal?

Aha, whenever I was in a clay area today, I just walked away and went to the more gravel areas. Sounds like I had the right approach. It's only the clay that's hurting my brain. I'm very confident of digging up something in all other circumstances.

How do you tell the difference between ground noise and a true target signal?

Hello, can anyone say if this method is valid with the 6000? I tried this method with clay today, but I kept getting noise. I watched another video today of a guy saying I should hover the coil at ground level over the hole, and if there is little or no noise, then it's just ground noise. In...

    GPX6000 Faults/Issues

Hello Peter. I got the machine back yesterday, used it today and all is well again. On the service report, Minelab just wrote the defect was ‘intermittent noisy connection’ and they replaced the control box. I hope I haven’t turned you off too much by it. I’m a newbie and found gold with it the...
