    Gpx 4500 problem

Well done Steefan, hope it keeps working. I had an issue with my battery and had to replace some SMDs for the audio. I discussed the problem with Mick and he mentioned that the curly power cable was most likely the cause. It can break about 50mm from the end but only cause intermittent...

    Sad news today, RIP Wal.

Sincerest condolences to Liz and his family. So much shared from both Wal and Liz. R.I.P. Regards Axtyr.

    Gpx 4500 problem

Steefan, one other option you have is to send an email to Mick and he might be able to tell you what those components are and their value. Regards Axtyr.

    Gpx 4500 problem

That is unfortunate. Either you have cross soldered another component or another component is also faulty. It looks like you now have 2 fried resistors. If you are in Victoria then Mick the Mechanic in Dunolly should be able to fix it for you. He is currently unavailable until about June for...

What’s it worth (Minelab Musketeer Advantage)?

Scott, do a Google search for: Mecion AA contact plates positive to negative. It will show you exactly what you need. It is a 30 pack but cheaper than a trip to Ballarat where I couldn't find the same thing at Jaycar. NOW FOR THE CAVEAT. For you to be able to replace the contact...

What’s it worth (Minelab Musketeer Advantage)?

G'day Scott. Those contacts in the battery pack look stuffed. If the cleaning doesn't work you might be able to replace them depending on how they are inserted. If you have any old battery operated toys that aren't being used anymore, and don't have corroded contacts, you should be able to...

    Victorian Golden Triangle Winter 2023

G'day Chris, 2 of us were out there on Wednesday. I had a private property to detect on Back Kyneton Road but that was a fizzer. We moved to 2 different spots on Spring Flat Road. The first spot was pretty barren other than the rubbish and dumped asbestos. The second spot looked more promising...

    Smelting gold for a ring

Why send it to a refinery? Just ask the jeweller if they can use the natural gold. I did this with our wedding rings back in 87. They end up being softer and require rounding every now and again if you wear them while working. You can only ask. Regards Axtyr.

Request for Feed Back on Subaru Outback or Forester Experiences

None of the Hybrids come with any spare at the moment, only a puncture repair kit. The battery sits where the spare used to be. Regards Axtyr.

Request for Feed Back on Subaru Outback or Forester Experiences

Full size spare on the 2020 Forester. Great little vehicle, just need to get used to all the noises and alerts from the safety features of the latest vehicles. Mid 2025 there will be a Hybrid model coming out which uses the Toyota Hybrid system as opposed to the crappy Subaru Hybrid system...

Adrock, after finding your 1000th nugget, you're not helping the gold situation for the rest of us. Regards Axtyr.

    Another question..

Geoff, mine is the 1980 edition and it only has 113 pages. It does have the information from your page 117 but it is on page 7. Go figure. Regards Axtyr.

    Another question..

The pages numbered 20,21 and 22 are from the Prospector's Guide. The other page, 117 is either from an updated version of the Guide as mine only goes up to page 112, or another book. regards Axtyr.

    More questions..

By motion speed response I will assume you are referring to the speed settings on the 5000 such as Motion Speed: Fast, Slow, etc. There is nothing like that on the 7000. I've only had my 7000 for 8 years now so I might have missed that setting. Regards Axtyr.

Would like advice on which detector.

OzChris, I wouldn't buy a VLF machine these days for gold detecting. They will find gold but a PI machine is superior. There will always be gold out there that any detector will find simply because it is just under the surface and people have walked away from it thinking it is rubbish. In highly...
