    Malara state forest NSW

Just checking on post #2 and comment on post #8; "The only restricted "No Fossicking" area is the mauve cross hatched area in the northern area of the forest shown above". Your post was from Oct 23. My data from May 23 and updated recently doesn't show that area as "Fossicking Not Permitted" in...

NSW fossicking where EL or ELA exist

    Thanks for clarifying.

NSW fossicking where EL or ELA exist

    Thanks, that clarifies things a bit. So if I read things correctly for fossicking in NSW State Forests, so long as one is not on a crown lease, an EL, or an MLA, as per these 2 pics; then permission is not required for purely an 'Exploration Lease Application'. As per this pic;

NSW fossicking where EL or ELA exist

The following question relates only to permission(s) required re 'Exploration and Mining Applications' vs 'Mining & Exploration Titles'. Considering other threads have made clear the necessity to obtain leaseholders permission where there is a 'Title', is it also necessary to obtain...

    gps problem can anyone help

Hmmm, the oregon 600t The plastic around the buttons disintegrated the other year. Garmin allowed me to purchase a reconditioned one. Last trip found it was turning itself off. Repeatedly. Changed batteries a couple of times (inc good eneloop pros). No luck. Now a worry. Back to the qu. Have...

    Native title NSW and "Non-exclusive"

In isolating detectable areas where there is a general permission (without requiring any further personal query), have become stuck on understanding Native Title detail. Where a native title determination outcome specifies "Native title exists (non-exclusive)" can we just go over the area, or...

    sodium metaborate instead of borax

Hi Nucopia, yes hebel block. Cut it very easily with a bow saw, and bored the hole with an old 55mm bit. I noticed your button looks quite golden compared to my mine. Guessing there's quite an amount of silver in mine. Wish someone would invent some alchemy for dummies. Dave, thanks for the...

    sodium metaborate instead of borax

Copied your set up Dave, and melted my first gold. Thanks again for your video and explanations. Maybe with one burner I should have turned the crucible - looks like I started to melt it. Only put a couple of grams in for first go and had trouble deciding when the gold had melted, so burner...

    sodium metaborate instead of borax

Smoky sure hope the impurities go up in smoke. Think I've got a few. But maybe they'll clean up some more in the ultrasonic before melting, when it arrives. Dave your video is a gem. And you have made it look very easy. I will definitely go this way. With my smaller volumes guess I'll get a...

    sodium metaborate instead of borax

The Aldi mapp gas ingredients are; 1-propene: 36-44 % Dimethyl ether: 36 - 44 % Propane: 18 - 22 % Sounds like it will melt, but if not a new Bunnings cartridge should not be an issue. What could help is a mini furnace/surround to have the crucible in & keep heat in. Would Hebel block suffice...

    sodium metaborate instead of borax

Thanks Smoky guess I'll just use some domestic borax. Was thinking that the lab grade stuff might be more efficient at removing debris. But should postpone trying it. Might be short of borons %#^%& Manpa, do mapp gas replacement cartridges all have the same fitting? ie I note the Bunnings...

    sodium metaborate instead of borax

Have some lab grade sodium metaborate from years ago. Wondering how it'd be instead of borax for a flux when doing my first gold melt down. Read much from our forum and seems borax mixed with a lesser portion of sodium carbonate makes a good flux. Just bought a mapp gas set from Aldi ($40 !)...

Minelab GPX5000 tips, settings and questions

Hi m@ttACT No, I didn't loose sound - everything was working and from memory, for both times it happened I'd been swinging and would have gone to change a setting then noticing the blank lcd. Hello AuMan Not understanding what you are referring to as "encoder"? If correct in presuming either...

Minelab GPX5000 tips, settings and questions

Last trip my 5000 lcd screen blanked out a couple of times (and it otherwise kept working). Bit scary when 1000's klms away. But it came right on rebooting. Rang Minelab and they were to call me back and advise, but never returned my call. Tried searching but not finding any cases. Being...

    Native Title

Thanks Ded I have a number of times, including in the last few days. All up the direct help I've had in both WA & Vic has been terrific. Just wish it was the same here in QLD. I guess it's all about legacy mostly & politics. However, for the history etc of these things I know nothing. Re the...

    Native Title

Dave Tengraph is great. And for example offers more data than what can be had from the DMIRS Data Centre, like unallocated crown land ( 'UCL' within cadastre layer) & native title. Unless you get a dataset from other than Tengraph you will not be able to discern "Exclusive" Native Title as in...

    Native Title

Thanks Dave, have done before; Had three 40e's a few years ago, used Tengraph etc Just as I said " look at the whole and then narrow the path". Like in Tengraph you cannot see UCL until your into 1:500,100 Not much chop unless you know where your going to begin with. Tengraph is not "the best...
