As someone in the market for a detector for Coin shooting parks: 65% Predecimal/relic : 33% Gold fields 2% Are any of these suitable for finding gold in those rare times I can look or do we need to consider something more like the Anfibio / Nox800

Not sure if you're aware but http://maps.six.nsw.gov.au/ has a nice feature where you can switch between 1943 aerial photography and modern day imagery. In doing so I found some interesting cutouts in what is now a bush area near me... But what the heck are these cutouts - looks almost like peat...

SO i guess leaving mine on a slab of old railway sleeper next to the bbq is the lazy mans option based on the above... oh the shame

NPWS has a map you tweak to show History - gives you an indication of what areas might be of interest and clearly identifies the nogo zone of national parks - one of the parks on middle head is fair game by the look of it! http://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/link?D3E64

Yes there is a lot of National Park in those areas but you can probably pick out some spots that aren't. The other option is to look for demolition sites etc around the Eastern Suburbs / Inner City - put on a fluoro vest and hard hat and noone will hassle you ;)
