    Minelab's next gold machine

You often will see detectorists using weight-supporting harnesses with a GPZ 7000, but almost never (if ever) with an SDC 2300. Obviously, when you swing a detector for hours, the wear and tear of that extra 1Kg on the user's shoulder adds up quickly. For younger people sniggering at an older...

    Minelab's next gold machine

I think it is probably time for an updated replacement model for the GPZ 7000. Something lighter would be great (FYI, I have never actually used one, but hear it is a heavy machine and I'm 57yo, so weight has become more important). An internal cord and robustness (like SDC 2300) would be...

    Turon State Forest

Those ones you mentioned are known. I've been talking about the huge void of historical activity between those ones, and Reedy Creek to the South. BTW the ones you mentioned are within a NPWS Wildlife Reserve and are out of bounds for prospecting. You can't even drive your vehicle into that...

    Turon State Forest

It's a huge area, so good luck with that scenario. Most people are too lazy or unprepared to go where is needed. Maybe I'm sending you all on a wild goose chase. ;)

    Turon State Forest

    Yeah, nah, did not happen.

    Turon State Forest

Well, I've been there a few times now and can say there is definitely gold in Turon State Forest. It's probably why no one talks about it. Mum is the word. ;)

    Turon State Forest

Are there any members that have experience/success prospecting within Turon State Forest? I have researched the area via all the regular methods but have failed to find anything of any substance. Historically speaking, the area largely seems to have been void of mining activity. Apparently...

    Show us your Isolation Projects

One day I will have to learn to extract gold from electronics. I have boxes and boxes of old computer parts, etc. :money:

Legal Questions - Crown Land and National Parks

Thank you everyone for going to the effort of posting your helpful answers. :Y: It looks like I'll have to find a non-National Park section of the Shoalhaven to sluice. I have heard a lot of people sluice in the vicinity of the Oallen Ford bridge (Shoalhaven River, NSW), which could be a...

Legal Questions - Crown Land and National Parks

Wow, good to know. The anti-prospector brigade are getting more serious year after year. I suspect the more the gold price rises the more Government will try to outlaw prospecting. Sad times...

Legal Questions - Crown Land and National Parks

So I don't run into legal issues is the reason why I'm asking the question, aimed at the experienced members, who may have experience with such dilemmas. I am trying to keep within the law. Obviously National Parks are a big no-no, but what of the river? It is marked as Crown Land (waterway).

Legal Questions - Crown Land and National Parks

Situation - A river running through a National Park in NSW (i.e both sides of the river is National Park) and the river is marked as Crown Land. Questions Is it legal to pan and sluice in the river? Can a prospector transit with sluicing equipment through the National Park to get to and then...

    Black or Discoloured Nugget?

I'm not saying it is natural lead, but I think it could be a badly deformed bullet that had been in the ground a long time.

    Black or Discoloured Nugget?

Thank goldielocks. I have a couple of scales at home but failed to bring them along on this trip. One of my other interests is buying and selling silver and gold bullion / coins. I'm still carrying the thing around in my pocket. I will melt it down when I eventually get home.

    Black or Discoloured Nugget?

I wouldn't exactly say that (I know how rare they are to find), but I am enthusiastic & hopeful. I imagine it will be one of life's moments when I find my first nugget. :goldnugget: :P

    Black or Discoloured Nugget?

I did exactly that, it was non-magnetic. In the end I am reasonably confident it was a badly deformed 303 lead bullet that has been in the ground a long-long time. So I still have not found my first nugget :N: :/

    Black or Discoloured Nugget?

Deepseeker, I look forward to that day. :goldnugget:  HippyProspecting, thankyou, I'm going to give it a red hot go. I don't give up easily. :Y: Aussiefarmer. If I had to guess (and I do), I would say this is a badly deformed 303 round (or similar) that has been in the ground a long...

    Black or Discoloured Nugget?

I'm now thinking it must be lead. I scratched it with a screwdriver and it is silver underneath. Story of my life, I wanted gold but got lead... :/ I tried scanning it with my gold monster 1000 and it screams gold, but apparently no detector can tell the difference between lead and gold.

    Black or Discoloured Nugget?

I wondered if anyone would pick up on that conundrum. Good pick up :D :trophy:

    Black or Discoloured Nugget?

No worries. I will let you know how the coke experiment goes. If it is inconclusive, an experienced opinion would be appreciated. Tonight I parked up in the bush in a huge motorhome out at Craigie on (I think it is called) white horse track. I've been here most of the day and have not seen...
