Having a swing on the 150th Anniversary of Mulligans expedition

To commemorate the 150th anniversary of Mulligans expedition to the Palmer, I went for a swing where it all started

    ⭐ Gold Detecting Show'n Tell

Found this beauty near the Palmer River in Far North Queensland last year. Total weight 15.6 ozt, specific gravity indicates 14 ozt gold. I've named it the Palmer Dragon

Selling gold - how, why, where

Hi Everyone I had the good fortune recently to find an 8 ounce specimen. It's a lovely water worn piece, specific gravity suggests 210 grams of gold. I'm wondering how I would go about selling this to get the best price. Ie are there any avenues or markets where people looking for these...

    SteveG's videos

G'day everyone, I made a short video of my trip back to a patch that I have flogged over and over. I really didn't expect to find anything, so this was a big surprise. I guess you can never find them all can you?

    SteveG's videos

Hi Everyone, I thought I would try a new area at a gold field about 5 hours from Cairns that had recently been burnt out, making the area much easier to detect compared to the usual long grass. So happy to have found 8 nuggets, all very coarse speccies.

Highbanking in (Qld) Queensland information and questions

No, I've never stated that at all. Quite the opposite. The digging/collecting and removal of the fossicking material IS fossicking and I do it in accordance with the act (using hand tools only). What is not covered by the act is what I then choose to do with my fossicking material at a later...

Highbanking in (Qld) Queensland information and questions

Just saying "You're wrong" isn't a very convincing argument. Look I'm here to make friends and share content, not make enemies. But if you're going to have a go at me, at least back it up with facts in legislation, not just your feelings. I'm also allowed to leave a tailings pile on my private...

Highbanking in (Qld) Queensland information and questions

Nowhere there does it say how much is allowed to be removed. Sorry but you'll need to try again. Also you claim that I didn't refill my excavation. Were you there watching me after filming stopped? No, so don't make assumptions please. You also claim that gems in a tumbler is a hobby whereas I...

Highbanking in (Qld) Queensland information and questions

Sorry but have you read the act and not just the operating rules? The act clearly defines fossicking and washing dirt at a later time/location does not fit within the definition. Also could you please direct me to the section of the act which defines how much dirt is allowed to be removed? I...

Highbanking in (Qld) Queensland information and questions

No worries, here is the act: https://www.legislation.qld.gov.au/view/pdf/inforce/current/act-1994-063 If you go to page 12 it defines fossicking, which is: 5 Meaning of fossick (1) Fossick means (a) search for fossicking materials in a systematic or unsystematic way (i) on the grounds surface...

Highbanking in (Qld) Queensland information and questions

Thanks. I did not mention what state I'm doing it in though. And besides, highbanking is allowed in queensland anyway. The QLD rules say you can't use any machinery etc to fossick, however highbanking is not fossicking. The act of fossicking is to collect/dig fossicking material only. What you...

Highbanking in (Qld) Queensland information and questions

Hi, Sorry for posting this here, but I don't know who to contact. I posted a video in the Members Youtube Videos section recently, and it was deleted. I posted it again today, and it's locked. Is there a problem? It's just a normal highbanking video, nothing against the rules as far as I can...

Minelab GPX6000 release, general information and questions

Your statements contradict each other. You say that the 6000 will be the "Ultimate patch finder" and will "find smaller gold than a zed" These both objectively do mean that you believe the 6000 will be better than the Z. I think you're wrong. The Z is and will remain the ultimate patch finder...

Minelab GPX6000 release, general information and questions

No, the GPZ is a better detector. The only advantage the 6000 has over the 7000 is weight.

    Detecting Cape York

That's correct, there is no general permission anywhere on the Palmer. You have to know someone BigWave's tip is good, Western Creek station is the best of the lot at Georgetown, I go there regularly and get gold every time.

Detector Depth Testing - Larger Gold

Sorry but I don't see the point of using coins as targets, unless you are trying to detect coins.

Will nuggets from Castlemaine lead to a mine from Kalamazoo?

You talk to a stockbroker? How strange. Almost nobody does that anymore, it's all done via software/apps.
