Wal, i can get stainless steel for next to nothing, and can do all folding and welding, what are the disadvantages of stainless over ally on a highbanker? have you used ally purely because its lighter?

my old man cant hear me once hes more than 10ft away haha definately need a radio. have always got gps and phone on me, never had a prob with the detector.

looking at getting a pair of handheld UHF radios so i can yell at the old man across the goldfield, anyone know if these upset the detector? i have read powerlines and radio towers can affect it. wondering about the UHF, thanks.

geez, so much i would never think of, the one i might try looks to be reef shed, how do i find out how they did it and who? is this possible?

i see areas on maps that are marked as surfacing. obviously they found shallow gold there, but do they strip down to bedrock? they would have missed some tiny bits but is there any point searching deeper on these areas? or is my time better spent elsewhere? any advice is appreciated :)

i dont have pans :( but ive got a gpx5000, do you reckon its worth a look with that?

ive noticed on the google earth ovelay from this site that there are quite a few gold mines a little north west of kinglake national park around Reedy Creek way. any one sucessfully detected here?

thanks Nugget they are great, since im only fresh to the hobby i know almoast nothing :( i have found 3 bits in 1 spot and 1 nugget in another im trying to overlay info onto google earth where i have the spots marked to see why i found gold there and how i can find more in that area. but cant...

on a paper map i have it shows surfacing and workings that i cannot get to show up on geovic, does anyone know where this info can be found? online maps etc that i can use to overlay? i only know of geovic. sorry to be a hassle. thanks guys.

thanks Dave thats a huge help, been overlaying them onto google earth. very time consuming. i have the gold atlas and those maps pretty much show what im after but too hard too scan and overlay.

any one know how to get geovic to display reef indications like they are displayed on a prospecting map?
