    Helping where I/we can

3 weeks ago I got a phone call from a bloke that lost his house in the Sampson Flat bushfires in the Adelaide Hills in January. He wanted to know if I could get the Metal Detecting Club to go out to his property, search through the remains and see what we could find. Of particular interest for...

    Christmas presents

Sometimes being totally alone in the world has it's advantages. My gift to myself :) Assembled, almost ready to go. Battery is now charged, wireless module charged and paired with the machine. Now to put it to work. PI Gold machine next on the agenda, get myself a 4WD again and Aussie...

    Digging in public parks

The best advice I could give you is watch vids on youtube. Search for 'coin popping' will bring up thousands, from there just follow on with suggested vids in the links. One golden rule, 'Leave it as you found it'. Using that rule you can decide for yourself what the best method will be. If...

    Fruit, vegetables and quarantine

Another thing they look for is fruit boxes, so watch what you pack things in. When I went to WA they checked everyone at the border, I had 2 fruit boxes with things packed in them. Their nice about it though, they had a supply of boxes there to change over to and dump the fruit boxes. It wasn't...

    What's Your Favorite Tent?

I have the Tourer 10+ and find it great. Stayed in it for a month earlier this year and it handled everything the weather threw at it very well. Put it up in 15 minutes by myself. I also have the side pole kit, much better with the centre pole gone.

Night park detecting with the Ace 250

If you want a good battery for your FBS machines I would highly recommend one of these. http://rnb-innovations.com/ I bought one for my E-trac mid last year. The last time I charged it was just before I broke my arm (almost a year ago). I used it 2 or 3 times back then, and have now used it 3...

    Finally getting active again

G'day all, after a long looooong 11 months of no digging etc due to a broken elbow followed by associated tendon & nerve damage. Had an op to repair the tendon & nerve 3 months ago and I'm finally slowly on the mend and have something to report about. Pic below is my few finds at a recent club...

    Torquay???

In all the years I spent living in that area, Torquay is more of a surfers beach near the Surf Lifesaving Club, and a sailors beach over the other side where the ramps are (not so much family orientated, ie crowd gathering) although the park areas along there could turn up some goodies. If I was...

Gold prospecting in the riverland, or close?

There are only 2 areas open to the public for fossicking in SA, Mt Crawford and Jupiters Creek. Other areas can be found but you need permission from the property owners. This gives a good rundown of the history of gold in SA http://tysaustralia.com/goldrushsouthaustralia.html and also this...

Anyone going for a dig this weekend?

G'day Lindy, any of the parks or beaches where people gather are a good easy option. Being new to detecting you might want to try joining a club, Southern Seekers are down your way if you live south. More details can be found here for them and other Adelaide clubs...

    Today I BOUGHT

Just bought a GPS unit for my car, not because I ever get lost, I've always been able to look at a map once then just go there. The reason is, after all these years single I'm starting to miss having someone to argue with in the car about where to go......... This thing is supposed to tell me...
