Thanks for the reply - I'm still yet to get there to take a look. Good to know it's accessible.

anyone ever panned in watsons creek?

Yeah - let's hope enough of us stick to the rules to protect this great hobby of ours.

anyone ever panned in watsons creek?

Watsons Creek is a tributary of the Yarra - which (unfortunately) makes it off limits. https://earthresources.vic.gov.au/licensing-approvals/fossicking/where-you-can-prospect-and-fossick/rivers-and-streams-where-you-cant-fossick#Y

    ⭐ Gold Detecting Show'n Tell

My first bits with the Gold Monster - I'm so chuffed! This was the icing on the cake from 3 fantastic days in Whroo/Rushworth, Vic. 0.3g in total.

Places to detect - Close to Melbourne Victoria

I asked Parks Vic the same question and they provided me the attached doc. It's pretty clear you are allowed to use a metal detector in the specified creek beds in the Warrandyte State Park.

Heathcote area Victoria information and questions

Yep, glorious part of the world - and a shame McIvor & Wild Duck creeks are both off limits for prospecting.

    Beach Detecting Information and Questions

Maybe it's a coincidence, but I've also noticed fewer coins up for grabs on beaches. I'm wondering if COVID has anything to do with it (fewer people out and about and even fewer carrying coins). Still great fun getting out and looking, though!

    Minelab Gold Monster 1000

Fantastic find, LORD. I'm still yet to find a single piece with my Monster, so this gives me hope!

Wet Prospecting Shovels - information and questions

Hey all, I've noticed Vogus shovelling directly into his sluice in his last few videos - what's the general consensus here? Seems to he a real time saver, but presumably it's not suitable for all types of gravel, eg heavy clay.

Andersons Creek Warrandyte Gold Memorial Trail Victoria information and questions

I was at Andersons today and the sign is still in the carpark stating that prospecting is permitted.

    Current fuel prices.

Hey Jaros, I bought some unleaded today for $1.35 per litre. Diesel is around $1.09.

    Surprise in the clay

Was surprised to find this awesome little fellow in my pan yesterday. A quick Google search suggests it's a Burns Cutty clay pipe made in Glasgow, Scotland circa 1847 - 1891. Not sure about the "Reynolds" marking, though. Was really pleased to have found this, my first relic. Besides this...

The Weekend Prospector TV series (Original - Tommy)

Agree Redfin. It'd be nice to see Andrew/the show briefly mention some of the legalities associated with prospecting, e.g. need a Miners Right, be aware of exempt rivers, etc. This season is so much better than the previous two, unless you're into hat-throwing clowns.

    Transporting the Gold Monster

All great info, thanks! I like the idea of a hard padded case - now just need to find one that's suitable.

    Transporting the Gold Monster

Just bought the Gold Monster - very excited to get out for a swing once Dan let's me leave the Melbourne suburbs. Bloody COVID. Just wondering if most GM users keep it assembled for transportation, or pull it apart and assemble in the field?

The Weekend Prospector TV series (Original - Tommy)

Yep, I saw it too. Did anyone else notice they had the dream mat the wrong way around on the highbanker?
