    Manticore Information and Questions

Personally, I see Minelab positioning the Manticore as a replacement to the CTX-3030 to placate those fans and we might see the technology underpinning it will trickle down to a cheaper version eventually...maybe in the EQ1k :) Minelab seems to be fencing the Manticore off like it did the...

    Xterra 705 or Equinox 800 ?

You can by all means use a larger coil than the 6" or 5x10" coils but it is easier to remember that larger coils pick up everything inside the middle line of the coil length on a Double-D coil. Almost all modern VF machine coils now work with Double-D coils as they work better in most ground in...

    Xterra 705 or Equinox 800 ?

Willows, I think that you will be happy with the EQ800. I had been waiting for a light weight multi-freq for a while. The Explorer was my first and that was a beast to use after more than a few hours and sounded like a bloody pinball machine on a bad day. I don't think the EQ800 is a bad...

    Broken Coils 800

I took the EQ800 up to Clermont and found the 10x5 coil to hold up very well in the minerialised soil up there. Found a few tiny gold specs loud and clear and at reasonable depth. No PI the EQ800 but I was pleasantly surprised that I could pull small gold using the Gold progammes. I haven't had...

    Broken Coils 800

I must have been fortunate. I still have my 800 since I pre-ordered it and have had no coil issues whatsoever. I use the 15" or 10x5 Coiltek coil more nowadays with a carbon fibre set up but all my coils have never had any issues (I worry more about wire degradation which I have seen on some of...

    Equinox 900

I look forward to checking out the EQ900. The 119 discrimination segments (compared to 49) and faster processor sounds great to me. Having an EQ800, I like to be able to use my existing coils and I can see with the 10x5 Coiltek coil seeing it more useful at the goldfields when I can get there...

Knee Replacement & the effect on detecting with a Minelab PI

I have had a titanium plate with 12 pins in my right leg from the knee down since 2006 and never really noticed any interference with any detectors, PI or VLF, that I have used. Of course, as detectors get more and more powerful, I wouldn't doubt a little interference may creep in.

Equinox 700 and 900 release coming hey

Hmm a few new features like flashlight, vibration, collapsible carbon fibre rod, and two coils for the EQ900. Perhaps more spec updates etc. Is it worth the RRP $1699 to upgrade. Wonder if the Coiltek coils and other ML coils for the EQ800 will be compatible.

    Minelab Equinox tips and questions

Right now I think I am going to sit on the fence with the Equinox. I want to see how the Makro Multi Kruzer versus the Equinox 800 testing fares. I have seen some videos on the Multi Kruzer and the stability in salt water seems to be impressive and the features of the detector seems to rival if...

    Minelab Equinox tips and questions

All the videos I have seen so far for the Equinox seem to have pretty jumpy Target IDs. I wonder if they will refine the target stability in a later software update. My X-Terra 705 can have a bit of jumpy Target ID but more or less is solid when it hits a good target. One of my worries with the...

    Minelab Equinox tips and questions

Does anyone know if the Equinox 800 has the prospecting mode equivalent that is in the X-Terra 705 or is that what the higher frequency on the Equinox use? I noticed that 705's pinpoint sizing isn't in the Equinox software which is a bit of a bummer. I found with the right coil and freq and...

    New Minelab Pro-find

Unfortunately, no re-tune functionality on the two new Pro-Finds like the Garrett carrot...can't live without it. Ferrous tone ID would be nice tho but I constantly use the re-tune functionality at the beach. There is a link on the minelab customer care site but I cannot post the link...

    Minelab Equinox tips and questions

Funny thing is that my new X-Terra 705 has a USB symbol on the screen that can only be seen during the factory testing mode. Maybe this is something to be added to the X-Terra line in the future perhaps in a VFlex3 model. I could also see this happening if they make a Safari-style Equinox model.

    Minelab Equinox tips and questions

Here are some more details: md-hunter.com/minelab-announces-sensation-new-2017 Supposedly to be announced at UK's Detectival. My money is on a multi-freq FBS X-Terra with computer connectivity and GPS using vflex 3. Hoping such a model would be waterproof too. A smaller chassis waterproof...

Saw this on ebay, had a laugh...

"Doesn't work and have no other parts I've been told that the main circuit board is missing but u can buy one for 300 hundred dollars." at least the guy posted internal photos of the box. I wonder if the unit is a demo non-working unit and the coil is just a hunk of plastic. Note how the wires...

    ❗Digging Techniques For Sensitive Areas.

A shovel just digging holes in a public park or sports ground is just not right. Throwing the 'found' trash around is also just not right. Their total lack of respect for basic metal detecting tenets is abhorrent. Councils are going to crack down on everyone if they continue to act like that...
