    Today Is

Just a suggestion... Given PA daily email summaries come out very late at night, and when I read them, it is the next day, maybe change the title of this thread to 'Tomorrow Is'. That way, we have a little advance notice and can be aware of what day it is before the day is over?

    Do skidplates reduce sensitivity?

Any thoughts on standard versus heavy duty for Nugget Findet skid plates?

    Do skidplates reduce sensitivity?

I guess a skidplate would help to retain the value of my GPX6000. Just wondering if a standard skid plate eg from NF, would reduce sensitivity? Would heavy duty make any further difference to performance?

    Nuggets are formed by earthquakes!

That is just mighty! All makes sense - thank you for taking the time to address my uncertainties and explain the theory so clearly! I'll have to follow up some of the videos mentioned here to help consolidate my understanding!

    Nuggets are formed by earthquakes!

All makes good sense - thank you! I'm still having trouble envisaging how hydro thermal fluids can lead to the formation of the quartz veins - in the shape they form. Also, how water can take up and carry Silicon and gold (and other minerals/ elements) - then find its way thru crevices - under...

    Nuggets are formed by earthquakes!

To my understanding basically that is how zone refining works. Further, given that the quartz is in relatively thin sheets it will cool gradually at various levels allowing the formation of 'horizontal' gold veins at different levels in the quartz. I have seen many, many gold mines at Hill End...

    Nuggets are formed by earthquakes!

For a long time now I have had the theory that gold forms in molten quartz in the same way as zone refining of Silicon works. This article and some of the earlier comments here convinces me even more. So the way this would work is that as the quartz cooled, the impurities in the quartz (gold)...

What are YOU doing right NOW

Good luck with the fishing! I just love the river reds and muddy banks! In 2 weeks, I'll be stopping in Balranald heading for the WA goldfields with a new 6000. Is that the low level weir you're camping at?

    GPX6000 Faults/Issues

Just a question... New GPX6000 out of the box. With the 11" coil it is so noisy and random- cannot quieten it down. With the 14"double D it seems fine. Is it true that in suburbia there is some much emi that it is unusable - even if away from metal objects? I know they're sensitive- but I...

Where/How to make a deal with a licence owner to prospect and share found gold?

You can download all the data you will need, and it has gps positioning so will not require phone service when out on the bush.

    Hill End Finds

The first item has me curious - it has the alphabet embossed around the rim. The second item appears to be part of a spoon, but there was no 'handle' and is very thin. The third item appears to be a button. It gell into 3 pieces, the middle section is a 'perished rubber insert the same shape as...

Well it wasn't today - but last Friday! Wholemeal damper using the National Park's fire pit and the camp oven. Was a real treat. Brian

    For Sale Minelab Eureka Gold

I have a Eureka gold and seeking offers... The battery no longer holds charge (battery charges to about 13.1V but voltage drops to around 8 volts when detector turned on. As a result, the unit is very 'chaotic' sounding when turned on and does not settle down. Also, the loudspeaker no longer...

    Warakurna W.A - Fossicking

Hi Folks, I note that a Google search mentions that Warakurna is in the goldfields region and I'm wondering if there is anywhere in this district where you can detect? A quick search of PA shows up nothing? Brian

    Unusual Rock - Mudstone Inclusion

I don't think it is a rusty lump of iron. For one it does not appear flakey. Also it appears to include a number of 'nodules' of black crystalline material which sparkles in the light. The nodules are covered in a thin 'rusty' crystalline crust which appears to have grown on the outside. These...

    Unusual Rock - Mudstone Inclusion

Hi Folks, Found this unusual rock with the 2300 at the beach, it did not howl as loud as iron or steel, but at a distance of about 200mm was a very clear hum. It was captive in a hollow in the bedrock and covered in sand. The bedrock is Boonanghi as defined by the App Trilibite - see...

    GPX6000 Faults/Issues

Hi Moneybox, What are the symptoms when a coil fails on the 6000? Does the detector self diagnose?
