Today I Saw a Native Animal

Cheers Grubstake - always nice to get confirmation it wasn't a snake. It was a little disconcerting that I dug and filled my hole prior to it being noticed.

Today I Saw a Native Animal

Is this a legless lizard of some kind? About 25cm long and just under 1cm diameter. It was in the bush in suburban Perth. It was 30cm from where I was digging - I didn't see it - my son was with me and spotted it. After a little encouragement it slithered away.

    Ultra sonic cleaners at Aldi

My experience with small ultrasonic cleaners isn't good. I don't think they have sufficient power to actually be effective. I've tried two over the years, a Jaycar one and an eBay one. Both filed miserably, even using hot water + different detergents. I've used a small 4L commercial unit at...

    Hilux's finds

A few coins today. A penny that looks like its been through a lawn mower. I also found a nice little Boy Scouts badge that is probably 1930s based on others I found online.

What do you do with all the fishing sinkers you find?

Yeah, if there's anyone fishing I usually give them away. They seem to appreciate being given the odd lure as well.

What do you do with all the fishing sinkers you find?

I've got 13kg worth of fishing sinkers, it includes a kilogram or so of lead scraps. Do you just sell it off as lead scrap at $1.50 per kilo or do you try to sell the lot as fishing sinkers for say $80? I'm sure many of us have a similar collection.

    Telstra mobile to satellite

I wonder if the starlink calls will also drop out if you go indoors. I played with my wife's iphone 15 and had to go outside to connect to the satellites. I'm looking forward to it. It would be great to send texts when out of phone contact in the bush.

    Hilux's finds

More finds today. 1944 threepence and a 1948 roo penny. Also got a brass metal button, I haven't found one like this before. It's two thin pieces stamped together with the outer edge rolled over. No text on it. Not a single ring pull or tab dug today. Got a few aluminium cans and parts of...

Today I Saw a Native Animal

Was near a busy road so I could have been a dog. The rest was missing, foxes might have cleaned up.

Today I Saw a Native Animal

Is this a cat? Perth, riverside. Seems to have a long nose for a cat. The bamboo stick is about 12mm diameter.

    Hilux's finds

Two florins in the same hole today. About 9" apart. They really sung out well on the Manticore @ about 98 VDI after nothing but ring pulls and pull tabs for the last half an hour. Always pays to check the hole!

Glad you found it! I've recently rediscovered the Chiko as well, 20 mins at 200 in the oven and lunch is ready!

    Hilux's finds

That's really cool SS. I didn't know finials could be flat. I just though of them as curtain rod ends! Thanks for going to the effort of the examples. Now I can go do some more looking. Cheers

    Hilux's finds

It's just a flat sheet. I thought it might be off a book or a small chest. I'll go google finials and have a look. Cheers guys.

    Hilux's finds

Any ideas on what this might be? Pressed brass sheet about 44mm wide. Found along side the swan river. I'm not sure if it has text on it in Sanskrit or something similar.
