I also have a 1 litre stanley coffee press that you can boil the water in and then add the Coffee and wait a for a bit and press it,

Nightjar your billy on the fire reminded me of the favourite billy I had. My Mum bought me a very nice Zebra brand SS billy with a spout and a mug to suit. We were up the Tanami at 6 mile on our first gold prospecting trip and I was driving the old 2WD Mazda bus. I had driven right down to the creek and when trying to get back up I had to stop when the bus got to the uncomfortable point of one front wheel well clear of the ground. When I rolled back it was clear that I'd forgotten to close the boot. There was my chair and favourite billy squashed beyond repair on the dam wall :(

We take a Thermos or 2 with us for coffee/Tea when day detecting.
Have seen Kelly Kettles in use in the past, interested in the size you/partner use eg 1.6l or .6lt. With the .6 to me its 1 big cup or 2 small. or course you can refill/reheat and its smaller.

I just ordered the 1.6L and the two extra bits. should be here mid week, fingers crossed. :Y:

Well my new Kelly kettle turned up today and it is the newer model with the Welded handle brackets instead of riveted ones and it has a Green Bung in it that is also a Whistle so there is zero chance of it firing the Bung out if you leave it on the stove, :perfect:

Must admit it is extremely well made and is made out of Stainless Steel where copies of it are made of Aluminium such as the one call the Ghillie Kettle etc so this one should last a lot of years, :Y:

Another option for coffee drinkers, is the coffee drip bags that are now available. They’re similar to a teabag, but unlike a teabag, the top is removed and the bag is supported in the cup while water is poured through the coffee.
Really simple, it’s all compostable, and the strength is adjusted by varying how much water is poured through the coffee.
I can now use the same coffee at home, at work, and when I’m out bush. For me, they’re ideal.
