I've found a bunch of dog tags but not one with a dog attached!

I often rub a coin with my fingers to clean it up and just accept that I won't be able to read the details until I get home and stick my magnifier headband on.

Smart phone photo and zoom in often helps with small print.
Yep it's one of the best things of modern technology 👌 It does have its drawbacks though as one of my sisters found out. Approaching 60 she was in a doctors waiting room reading a magazine and tried to zoom in on a page 😅😅😅I asked was she getting tested for alzheimer's.

A chap was detecting on the site of Old Hall's Creek which is now a ghost town. He found a whole swag of dog tags in a very small area beside what used to be a street of houses. He worked out that the dog's owner must have sat on the front steps every year when he received the new dog tag and removed the old tag, discarding it before fitting the new one. He had an unbroken series of tags , all legible, for several years leading up to the time when Old Hall's Creek was demolished and moved north to its present location.
The finds brought a bit of humanity to what had appeared to be a derelict ghost town which, apart from the remains of the substantial Post Office , did not even have ruins to show that people had ever lived there.

Keep a second pair of "cheap " glasses in your truck . If I am working on some thing I often use them . Driving the fork lift , the prescription ones fell down and I ran over them .... The boss was good enough to pay for my new ones .
