Usually on the ground nenad,if working a spot with the boss i'll point it at her, sometimes it takes a few goes also but im not doing it near as much as when i first got the 6,some days hardly at all.
Just caught up with some blokes yesty returned from up north,a minelab tech was up there to,they all got the new secret part installed 😂.
They said it was a big improvement if using the speaker,it's not an issue for us using the BT so i might send ours in over summer, top stuff minelab 👍
All the 6ks made in the last few months will have the 'secret part' installed. It's a five minute job to get done but it means dropping into a service centre or posting your machine off. Not ideal. Your correct, its only a concern for people using the speaker.

Hey all. Can someone lead me in the right direction for those earbud headphones. I don't fancy wearing the Minelab ones in the warm weather.
My setup includes a Steelphase booster an aptx bluetooth receiver & Flares audio "Jet 3" earbuds to use this setup without the steelphase there wouldn't be any volume control apart from the detector volume which probably isn't going to be very ear friendly. If you want to set up identical to mine (which is awesome) but will cost you around $400
I'll point you in the right direction re connections required. Buy those 2 things quickly as sale on buds and limited number on sender (sender on eBay, item number 374235025607)
Ear uds direct from their website.

If you decide to get bluetooth earbuds make sure they have aptx so you don't get a lag & check the battery run time between charging as many only run about 5hrs

Thanks @Gold1hunter . I've ended up getting the Avantree ones for now.
I tried pairing them the other day but with no luck. I was in a bit of a hurry to get going so I stuck with the ML ones for now.
I'll try again before it warms up.

When I first purchased the GPX6000 late last year it had this fault on startup. It usually happens twice and on the odd occasion three times but sometimes it starts normally. During the first trip out (after a couple of weeks) the 11" coil failed but was quickly replaced by Minelab. When I reported the startup error they said that it was most likely related to the faulty coil. That was not the case because the even after fitting the replacement coil the startup fault is still there.

I'm going to send it back when I get a quiet spell where I can do without the detector.

Just one more thing, I'm now on my forth skid plate. They don't wear through but become loose and fall off. I could tape or glue it on but I've always had a spare so I've just slipped a new one on and it's good for a few more weeks.
Gee i must be doing something wrong as I'm still on my first skid plate thats over 19 moths old but i do take it off and rotate it when i clean the dust out

Me too, and I scrape my coils. I even bought a spare so that I was all ready to swap it over, but it hasn’t been required yet 🤷🏼‍♂️

They are a very good long wearing skid plate . I have changed a couple, perhaps three or four, because they end up falling off. Once they've come off the first time they won't stay on at all. I have a drum of RTT Sealant, blue liquid rubber pool paint that I use for all sorts of things. I have a tomato sauce bottle filled with RTT Sealant that travels with me just about everywhere. I've used it to repair my shoes, my hat, leaks around the plywood floor and more. Now I use a small stream of it around the perimeter of the coil cover on each of my coils. It prevents dust and water getting in and is unaffected by abrasion and high temperatures. It sets like rubber and can be pulled off the plastic when needed.

got my 6 back from MINELAB great turn around got speaker done and 11 coil checked all good looking forward to mastering and putting my head around this machine

I’ve got a few tips and tricks that I use when chasing the small gold. Obviously running in auto plus tends to be an advantage at times but not always. Some nuggets respond well regardless of the sensitivity whereas others cannot be heard unless you are in auto +. I guess it has a bit to do with the size, shape and depth of the piece. If in difficult ground where low sensitivity is being used, try auto + for recovery of the target if you are having trouble finding it in your dig pile. Keeping the machine with a quiet threshold is the number one aim. Running with no threshold will miss really small gold at times. I’ve tested this on numerous occasions. Sometimes the really fine, subtle change in threshold will not be enough to give a “squeak“ if the threshold is turned off.

I've got a pair MB.
No pun intended but I have "paired" them up but cannot get sound out of them.
I need to spend some more time with them lol

There's a little switch on the other side. It switches between ear-buds and speaker so if you're switched to ear-buds then you get no sound ;)

Atm, from what I hear,I would gladly swap my 6k for an axiom.
I'm not suggesting that the axiom Is better than the 6k, but has different strengths that might be more suitable to me. One being it's ability to handle emi.
In the last few days, detecting has been over for 6k users up here by midday.
Our season is short due to access because of our wet season and emi produced by storms. If the 6k can only do half days now, a good 2 to 3 months before the storms really become daily, then it's not a lot of use to me. Let's see what the new garret brings to the table. I like the idea of better handling of emi and a couple that with a dd coil, and it might have some advantages in the tropics.
Went out for a swing yesterday with the 6k.
1 lone tiny speccie, but what was interesting was how quiet it was for most of the day.
I met another bloke who was using an sdc. I shut down as we chatted for a few minutes.
When I started up again, it was as noisy as all hell! Why? I was several hundred meters away from him at this stage.
Put the dd on, all good. So good, I tested it under some power lines with no problems at all. The dd has some real benefits.
