my step Dad was bed ridden in pain for 3 or so days a few years back. Finally went to the doc, doc said its all in his head and sent him home with pills. Few days later no improvement, so Mum bit the bullet and made him go see another doc, this doc said, stay put where your seated, your not going anywhere except hospital... he suspected a blood clot. Well he was right, next day in hospital they found 2 blood clots in one of his lungs!

Weatbix bloody doctors!

Sounds like one of them was first class....

A while ago I went to the dentist for simple filling . The dentist proceeded to inject the area to numb the tooth. In the meantime his full attention was devoted to talking to his dental assistant about making plans for the weekend and meeting up , all the while not realising the needle he was injecting had completely penetrated my gum and the anesthetic had squirted down my throat . Only then did he realise something was wrong when when looked down and noticed tears streaming from both eyes . Not as if I could say anything with a needle in the middle my mouth to warn him. Have not been back to a dentist since.

My dentist and I have a very good method of communicating apart from my occasional grunt to affirm a positive, we also use the old open palm on top of extended fingers i.e. T, to recognize I need a timeout. Works well. Mackka

I went to the dentist last week and fell asleep during the procedure! Just the normal needle for anaesthetic and he was drilling an what-not, but I just dozed off. I surprised myself!

As a young kid (5 or 6) I developed an abscess on the jaw from a crook tooth. I also share that dreaded phobia ....NEEDLES.
The nearest dentist was a long trip away so mum & dad didn't really want to take me & I didn't want to go.
Day after day of agony & crying myself to sleep at night from the pain but because of my needle phobia I still tried to hide the pain.
Until an older sister came home for a visit & found out about my abscess. She bundled me into her car & drove me to the nearest dentist where after lots of screaming & crying the dentist (I use that term loosely) pulled the tooth. I ran out of the building as soon as I was free from the chair & after speaking to the dentist my sister came out later to find me face down on the path out the front passed out from fear, pain, relief. She drove me home & when the anesthetic began to wear off the pain returned...... he had pulled the wrong tooth. A month later I was driven to the local hospital & had all of my baby teeth pulled
I hate dentists & doctors & anyone else who uses needles to inflict pain on us scaredy cats.

Just recounted a memory with my siblings of our early school days at Maude NSW. This week it's become an inland ocean like most of inland NSW. Back in the early 70's I remember pulling out 3 of my teeth during school hours, no anaesthetic required 😊 The creator of creation made a huge mistake when it comes to adult teeth imo 😬 I reckon 5 to 10 sets of teeth would have been a better idea for us humans.

Thanks for the stories guys, I'm about have two crowns removed as the glue is breaking down, then see if the teeth are good enough to take new ones as it was 30yrs since the crowns were originally done, if so $12,000 if not screw ins which could be upwards of $20,000. Now that's scary 😁

Pull the buggers out and get a plate.

Well as per original title, I’m not afraid of them I just don’t like them. This comes from when I was around 12 . If the old butcher was still upright he wouldn’t be now.
