looks awesome, I though my nox 800 would be my all the time machine but if this is waterproof and had the 2d target id and GPS mapping that the CTX3030 has im keens mustard! half of my mates still use the CTX but theyre old batteries have been replaced a few times and the recovery is so slow compared to the equinox.
It will be interesting to see the price

Just watched a video on YouTube and the Minelab rep is asked the price and he said it was 1999euros so around $2900 Australian.I'd put a link for the video but don't know how

Some US dealers have $1599USD up on their websites for pre-order.
Can't find anything from UK other than rumoured to be £1799?
Bit of an overview on Joan Allen
https://joanallen.co.uk/minelab-manticore.html#description
MULTI IQ+:
Minelab’s revolutionary technology has 50% more power than traditional models and is the highest-powered simultaneous multi-frequency machine on the market.

Just another globalist company that don't deserve our money. Spend local, and minelab is definitely not a local company any more.
I couldn't agree with that sentiment Dave, as Minelab (Codan) is an ASX listed public company. Any Australian can buy shares in them and also share in the profits they make.
Australia accounts for only $48M of their total revenue and they bring back home sales totaling $458M form around the world. North America $206m, Africa $133m, Europe $85, South America $15M and even $19M from China.
If a company has good or unique products but performs poorly financially, they become a prime takeover target for someone, often a foreign interest, Manufacturing costs can in reality be a relatively small part of a products overall cost especially with things that require high tech research and development so companies have to be realistic about those costs. Minelab is not alone in seeking lower manufacturing costs overseas as companies like Apple, Mercedes and Tesla all manufacture overseas to ensure their continuing competitiveness.
It is far better to retain ownership of a company, its profits, its taxes than have it sold off so we don't see any of that Some names that we have lost to foreign ownership include Speedo, Tooheys, R M Williams, Arnotts, Billabong, Bundaberg Sugar, Uncle Tobys to name a few.
Back on topic and in researching this reply, I noticed this in Codan's announcements "Several new detectors on track for FY23 H1 release"
Assuming the Manticore is one any ideas or rumours about the others?

Looks like a great detector, though it seems to me that this is what the Equinox probably should have been from
the get go.

Seems the Nox was just basically a gap filler and not very well designed, even though it is a great little unit to
use. Interesting that in the vid he says "equivalent to the CTX" regarding power/depth but obviously a lot faster than
the CTX. The Nox just doesn't compete with the CTX on the beach at all, it's good but not in the same league as the
CTX regarding depth and discrimination. Trashy parks is where it really shines and it looks like the Manticore will
be even better again in the trashy areas.

If Manticore can get the same or better depth on beaches with discrimination that matches or out competes the
CTX then it will be a great and very versatile unit, especially if they release a 17" coil. That's the best thing about
the CTX is that big coil, you can just cover so much ground quickly and hoover up nearly everything.

Anyway my feeling is if you've got a Nox and a CTX then the Manticore is probably not needed, more depth than
the Nox on parks is not really needed and if you use a CTX on the beach a Manticore won't be needed as the faster
speeds are really unimportant unless on a really trashy beach area, which is pretty rare.

I can see 3 real reasons to buy one and that's to upgrade from the Nox for beaches, the ease of use with a
lighter weight than a CTX and also looks to be a much better build quality than the Nox.

My opinion is that CTX will still be king on the beach with the 17" coil, happy to be proven wrong though. 😁

I noticed there is no GPS on the Manticore also but I rarely use it anyway, some do like that function though.

I don't think it has GPS

Really curious to see how this performs on real, in-ground targets versus the Legend / 800. Having an E-TRAC as well, I've come to the conclusion that having 2D target ID isn't all that useful unless you're really hunting a specific target eg. sniping spendies in the park. Good to cherry pick but at some point you have to start digging everything if you're chasing relics. Now that's not to say it's not a nice feature, but Nokta's ferro-check pretty much gives the Legend a rough 2D ID as far as I'm concerned. If it's unmasking performance is comparable to an 800 then I don't have to worry about shelling out for one. EMI handling could be a wildcard, high EMI environments are really the only places where I think I'd see a big benefit in going deeper.

That said, I probably don't have a horse in the race if it ends up north of Deus 2 money in this economy...

Yeah the gps is a great feature in the dark , particularly when gridding also when in the shallows. Think minelab might of missed an opportunity to really combine 2 great machines with all the best features by not having a gps feature. Maybe on the manticore 2?

having a look at few you tube vids on the manticore and its discrimination is a vast improvement on the knox , with excellent target identification both in Tid and target shape, on par with the ctx 3030 . I think minelab would bring out a range of coils , including a bigger coil as they have with most of their ranges. It looks good , need to see the price here on oz.

The manticore will sell in Australia for $2500 and unlike the CTX, does NOT have GPS capabilities. So anyone considering buying a new 'high end' coin machine will buy the manticore over the CTX on weight alone, considering how close they are on price. But all the media hype doesn't mean a thing! Let's see how it performs in the field when used by real detectorists in real life situations.....

Hey Guessologist. how are you finding the legend? I also swing an Etrac and have for years but I'm considering an update. With the manticore about to be released I'm just waiting for some unbiased reviews to be posted and that will give me something to justify the price! Looking at the Legend & Deus 11 as well.

I'm really liking it so far, it eats the E-TRAC alive without contest in mineralised soil and nail beds, and I'm suprised to find that in these really trashy sites I have to hunt in, the Legend running the 11" coil is finding easy targets that I missed with my Equinox 600 with the 6" coil. I thought that I wouldn't get much mileage out of the 11" Legend coil as I've done so much with smaller coils already but I'm being constantly pleasantly surprised by how well it's unmasking. I think the default iron bias settings on the Legend are already set a bit sparkier than the Equinox, I haven't felt the need to adjust it yet. As I understand it you could set up an Equinox 800 to perform similarly, but the Legend's price is pretty unbeatable, particularly if you can catch an eBay 20% discount as well.

I feel like the E-TRAC and Legend would be pretty similar on weakly mineralised ground, but it would be easier to tune the Legend to really ping on lower conducting targets I reckon. Weighs just a touch more than the Equinox but coming from the E-TRAC that won't be a problem! My detecting shoulder is a bit injured at the moment but I can still get out for a swing without hating life, not sure if I'd be doing that with the ETRAC. The Legend menus are admittedly pretty confusing to me and I figure myself as fairly tech-competent, but I think I would be sorted if I found myself with half a day to sit down with it and the manual and play with everything. I'd rather have the complexity there and grow into the machine than be locked out of stuff altogether.

Thanks for the reply and info. I like what I see so far with the legend. I think the deus 11 is a whole lot of tech and a real learning curve. I will see how the manticore stacks up but cost has to be taken into account. Thanks again.

Is this Manticore a VHF or a PI? Or am I asking another dumbass question? … lol ✔️✔️✔️ Thanks in advance...
Ps
Thank you GS...
Yep... another dumbass question... lol...
I do remember they said "multifrequency",… but did not realise that meant VLF...
...
BUYING A Detector is like buying a new 50 mpl mirrorless camera... so much to find out beforehand so that we know what is what...
So the Manticore will not find the one once gold nugget I lost in my garden a few years ago ....very easily ie...?
But then again, 2,000,000 visiting folks do come to Byron Bay a year so the beach must be lucrative...
