I am not trashing it. If they add tone adjustment to threshold I would buy one. Maybe that might be in a future update at some point. If they are trying to gain back market share they would have to release it at a reasonable price lower than the proven Minelab 6k.

Seen the axiom today, very nice bit of gear, solidly built, very light,it had the 11x7? on it,the 16x10? mono is crazy light also, feels like a paper plate in your hands, might get to give it a run the next cuppla weeks as there waiting on a fresh update to be loaded into it atm.
Hinted at the retail price also buts that's not my business to post what was said,it's not set in stone but id say it's a good guide.

Always look forward to your informed comments Goldchaser1. Mackka
Ya sure you haven't got me mixed up with someone else mackka. 😂

Im no detector guru, never have been and never will be,i'll leave that to others, finding untouched country if we can is more important to us but i am not to bad these days compared to 10-15 yrs back.

It's great to see garrett coming out swinging instead of shadow boxing, minelab could take a look at the shafts on the axiom for starters, compared to the 6's there top shelf,we sorted our 6's shafts out last year that was my only complaint about them really.

It's going to be very interesting to see how it goes in aust after the infinium and atx, they weren't popular,i think you might need a few weeks to see what it can or can't do though, mbasko hinted with the timings or pulse delays will it be a case of running different settings and then coils to get near 5000 performance or better it,he might have a good point there.

Just guesstimating atm really, the 6000 was not what i was expecting so ya never know,i can't see it matching the 6's or the 7's,there so versatile and powerful with a small selection of coils...

So, here's an interesting comparison on retail prices.

GPZ $9799
6000 $7999
Axiom $7385
GPX5000 $4999
SDC2300 $4599

Looks like Garrett positioned themselves right in the middle of Minelab's high end offerings. So you'd expect the performance should match the price?

What kind of a price is that. lol
Garret make pin pointers right? Oh what? They also make metal detectors too? sheesh. wow. (Jks)

Unless it is a true performer, I just don't see it.

Not sure if any of you have been following the dramas about the prices one retailer was "attempting" to charge for the Axiom in NZ...... $13k....... blaming the delta between Oz prices and Kiwi prices on Garrett...I sent a few enquiring emails to them and we have a Winner Winner Chicken Dinner..... still over priced but closer to reality....
