The scoop is called a nugget scoop. They are still available I think, I'll have to see.

I use one myself. I like the ripples as well and have stopped a few pesky pellets from rolling out of the scoop when separating soil. The best part I personally like is the wider flat bottom as it seems to allow for more material to settle there and its easier to pickup tiny gold when moving it over coil.

Other scoops: that were more rounded on both sides with less bottom in the middle of the scoop and the downfall with these other scoops is the material seems to sit slightly further away from the coil making it hard to hear very tiny bits locked up in clay ball. Sometimes its ok and other times I can jiggle the scoop but doesn't always push the piece to the bottom and thus can dump material from the scoop thinking the target isn't in the scoop when in fact it is.) Of course this problem isn't noticeable with large targets.

Pretty sure EE Day in Ballarat has those scoops in stock. They don't have a great online presence so you may have to phone.
I have had one for years and they certainly make finding those specs easier.
Mrs Redfin has a plastic scoop. She added some riffles with a glue gun.
