My latest issue of ICMJ magazine there is an article interviewing Garrett, towards the end of the article they say a new high power nugget detector will be coming from Garrett at the end of summer. They are putting the finishing touches on it now.

I am hoping this is the half sine hybrid nugget detector they inherited patents for from the buy out of Whites. I guess it could be a refurb version of the ATX too. Doubt it would be a VLF nugget machine since Garrett just released the new Garrett/Whites 24K not that long ago. Be interesting to see what develops.

Hope it has wheels on it if it is based on the ATX, with all the battery's and excess of plastic.

If they bring it out it will need to be re modded for aust conditions as in the past if you bought direct from USA they were set for American conditions and not that great for aust conditions, until they were re chipped for our conditions, when I was in tarningulla last year a man bought one of those fold up Garrett prospecting detectors and paid over $4,000.00 from usa , I took him out and tested it out and it wasn't even a decent kids toy, for it to be that bad it had to be a Chinese copy as it was total rubbish, so I said don't take my word show the old prospectors at the c amp site and they told him to throw it in the bin as it wasn't even good for coins, so the warning is only buy from a reptical company, that was an eye opener for me when I seen what he bought for $4,000.00, I know at one time Garrett stopped the usa dealers selling to aust, as they were a couple of hundreds dollars cheaper as the aust dealers complained to garret usa as they weren't selling many as they were so much more expensive

Well so far the reviews indicate the machine can get the tiny stuff down to 1 grain no depth tests on bigger nuggets yet. Looks like it is gonna sell around 3999.99 usd. Sounds like a decent little machine, but I will keep my gpx6000.

Looks like a good machine MXT, and it also looks like Garrett has addressed all of the shortcomings of their previous PI.
Be very interesting to see how it goes in Aussie conditions, the Tibooburra test is good as for size of the gold, but I'm lead to believe that it's pretty tame ground out there.

Their campaign to knock Minelab off it's perch started with their "Minelab killer" the Infinium in 90's or thereabouts. Been a few releases since then but no cigar, the capability, market didn't shift, neither will they.

I wonder, in Australia who will mend the Garrett when and if it goes belly up. Or will you have to send it back to the US to have it fixed. 🤔
