I was going to write a bit of a story to go with this but I've been back out looking for more since so there's been no time to spare.

Mrs M's gold.jpg

Mrs M did well with the SDC2300. She didn't find quite as much as I did with the GPX6000 but she never worked as many hours. You know, domestic duties and all that. It was nice to return to a ready cooked campfire meal ;)

A stew in the camp oven can keep us going for a couple of days.

Some of the gold is a bit dirty but it's about to be dropped into the Alibright so that should do the trick.

The wind is often howling through the WA goldfield so we don't always have a fire. This time we had some beautiful weather early in the trip so we took advantage of it and cooked outside.

We had our trip to Maryborough in late April into May, we had a meetup with Greenhornet and Kato for a few days, they made the trip over from Adelaide, was very nice to meet them and spend a few days out looking around. We took them to areas where we normally do find gold, they had the choice of GPX4500's or SDC2300's, but other than one bit (.202g) in the first half hour found by my wife with the 6000 no matter where we went there was nothing but shot gun pellets and ring pulls for Greenhornet.

It was disappointing that nothing more was found in the days that they were there, but there seemed to be a lot more indications of a lot of activity by others in places where on our last visit we drove on slightly visible wheel tracks, this time the tracks were easily seen as were numerous unfilled holes wherever we went.

After Greenhornet and Kato left we tried a number of areas and after about 7 days we finally started to find small bits, the size of the gold we were finding indicated that they have been on the move for a very long time or have been on a very strict diet. Over our 3 weeks that we had there we came up with the grand total of 1.5g which is better than none at all.

Wife had no problems with the 6000, but the areas where she had been working looked very much like it does when chooks get into a nice area to dust themselves, there were scratching everywhere, the result was usually a shot gun pellet of various sizes.

There were 3 more bits of gold found about the same size as the top bit, but they got put in the main collection without being photographed.

Was great to catch up 20x. I reckon there may be a few more left in all that red clay there😄
I'll treasure all those leadshot I picked up..lol
I got the third bit close to where you last seen me, didn't get anything else in that patch of ground. Finished up going back to where I got the first one and got the fourth about 1m From it 😎

Thought is was a small speci but when I crushed it I was wrong! 😮
The third pic was a mates find.

A few hours around Talbot today. I think this is a new pb for a small bit. Found at about 4 inches. I really thought it was ground noise at first but I persevered for a while.
I reckon I've walked away from a few of those in the past.
That's amazing!
