We just had a week out at Flat Creek, still water around in the creeks, good for having a pan or sluice, but rapidly drying up. Few people there over Easter, might get more popular now it’s cooling down ! No gold for us this time, but at Least I know where I WONT go next time ! Amazing place...

Did you do any good around Coen ? I mainly found tin in the creeks and rivers and relics around the old mines !

I will have a better go when Im in Coen next trip up there, finding the old mullock heaps is the key ! There was a LOT of gold taken out of the fields there. :o

Well, looks like 1/2 of you go more than 4hrs away. I am way further north that that ATM and for the first time in Coen. Just lots of tin in the creek so far !

We have been giving it a bit of a run and we are pretty happy with what we have seen so far. Just need to get it out in the goldfields for a couple of days and see how far it can be pushed in the mineralised soils. Looks like it will be a winner in the sub 0.5g range of pickers !

Hey TO I believe the station is now back in the hands of the Djungan people via a renewed deed of lease via the efforts the NQ land council, so NOT being sold off as has been suggested. I know the area and it would be great hear back from you.

Closest area (official)area is the Mt Gibson fossicking area Near Innot Hot Springs. Mostly Crystaline Topaz.

Thanks Goldierocks, that is one of the best explanations I have heard on where and how to find gold around old mines. Running a detector shop, my standard advice is "If you want to find gold, go where it has been found before" & "dig every signal". I think this is a given, but "Where" to detect...
