Hi Koja, I'm originally from the US too. Been here 15 years now. I first started my detecting in the golden triangle of Victoria. I did a one day training with detector hire included as well as full instruction on how to use it. I even found 2 small nuggets! As you're heading there anyway it...

PB,s or favorite nuggets! Lets see 'em!

Best day is 17.76g with a 8.5g nugget and 7g specie. Biggest nugget is 13g (image below) Lots of character. Found the 3 biggest within 15m of each other. Found the first 2 same day with an SDC. Went back when I got my 6000 and found the 13 grammer.

    GPX6000 Vs SDC2300 Sensitivity Test.

That's pretty helpful. I will add my experience. I found a 9g nugget and 8 gram specie with the 2300. Went over that ground several more times with the 2300. Once I got the 6000 that was the first place I went to. Found a 13g the 2300 didn't make a peep on. It was at ~350mm. Loving the 6k. It...

9 bits for me today. Seems like the 6k is just as good on the small gold as my sdc.

Can some one assay a small pyrites sample ?

Yeah they're great. That is just for gold. If you want mor elements it's additional cost. The biggest issue for us is that there's a large backlog due to strong demand. So be prepared to wait 6ish weeks atm (at their Orange lab)

I would suggest using a lab such as ALS, SGS, or OSLS. The minimum sample size is ~35-50g depending on what you want. Assay costs are pretty reasonable in my opinion. We use all 3 labs at work. (I'm a geologist for a mining company) My favourite is ALS. Attached is their fee schedule.

    GPX6000 Faults/Issues

On my first trip with my new 6000. 4th day and it's still working fine. I do have the same deal with the 2 out of 3 battery bars though. I just switch it over at lunchtime. All these posts have me a bit concerned. :/

    Tibooburra Gold.....a beginners "El Dorado."

The common is a fee for 1 month. I think it's $10. Mt sturt and gumvale have a daily fee. $5 and $10 a day respectively last time I was there. Plus $5 a day if you want to camp. With the common you have to stay at one of the camp grounds or caravan park/motels. I've always done best on Mt sturt...
