    Highbanker advice...

I'm toying with the idea of building myself a highbanker. I have a rough design scratched down but just trying to work out some of the intricacies for now. I initially wanted to go with a bilge pump for one reason...the noise, or lack thereof. But after a little research found out they're not...

    DIY Mini River Sluice

Feel free. Glad you like it. I suppose that stuff might work. I personally wouldn't be willing to experiment but I don't see why it wouldn't work. And I made the flare from the top section that I cut off. It was a downpipe so just cut a 40cm section off the pipe, then just cut one of the large...

    DIY Mini River Sluice

That's correct. But to be fair, I probably made the fair a little too wide.

So yeah tested it today and it ran very well. Quite happy with it. Caught some very fine stuff in there and was definately faster than panning. On to a winner I think.

    DIY Mini River Sluice

Not bad for $10 worth of materials and an hour of my time. I could cut the mat shorter, maybe 2cm. This could act as a little trap maybe? Would result in a 3mm drop from flare and a 4mm rise at the front of the mat. Would that be adequate to trap a small nugget? If not, what would you suggest...

    DIY Mini River Sluice

So this is what I've come up with in the end:

Water Levels - Central/Northern Vic atm?

Anyone know how slaty creek is looking as of the last few days?

    DIY Mini River Sluice

Thanks. But what kind of riffle? A drop riffle? Should I put it at the start of the ribbed mat or at the end?

    DIY Mini River Sluice

Hello. Im looking at making a portable mini sluice for creeks with low water flow. It's not necessarily for increasing production so much as making life a little easier. I like to just plonk myself down and feed a sluice for an hour rather than pan for the same amount of time. My idea is to...

    Hello...

Thanks. I don't know where to pan. I read that there is signs? And orange markers signalling the end of the prospecting area? I was just going to wing it, take a poke around and find where I meant to be. But your offer is very nice and I might just take you up on that sometime next week/weedend...

    Hello...

Thanks for the replies. Much appreciated. Nugget, I can't recall where I read that. I had a quick look and couldn't find the post I was thinking of, but did find another post that mentions panning only. I did find a mention on another forum but I'll refrain from directing people there. I can't...

Damage to the banks of a creek

I've never even been prospecting (yet) but this boils my blood. I wonder how many places that are open to prospecting now will be closed off by the time I manage to get to them...I shudder to think.

    Hello...

So Im new, to both the forum and prospecting in general. Hi! Just wondering what the deal is with prospecting at Warrandyte, more specifically, Andersons Creek? I've read that only panning is allowed at Andersons Creek. But I've also seen people on this forum sluicing there. So what exactly...
