    Getting a Reading..but can't find anything

Oh, also - should just mention that at this time of year at Batemans Bay 90% of beach finds seem to be beer bottle tops, beer cans or sinkers. Very annoying.

    Getting a Reading..but can't find anything

I just spent some time detecting at the beach at Batemans Bay - was getting very frustrated as many of my detections seemed to be unfindable. It happens! I was using an Equinox 800 in 'Beach 1' mode.

Metal detector find. What is it.

Hi all, the below is the size of a cigarette butt and I have no clue what it is. I detected it in the surf at Denhams Beach on NSW:

    Minelab Equinox 800 for Sale

Ah, fair enough - I'm in the ACT. Let me know of you're willing to budge on that price. I imagine with shipping, I'd be better off buying locally.

Fisher F22, Loan machine review. B5MECH

I bought a Fisher F22 from Amazon (I'm noob - just started) and based on my small number of outings, it does seem as though it fluctuates quite a bit and will sometimes lose a signal completely - I'm taking it to Hills End in a week or so to see what I can find - I'm hoping that with a bit more...

Hi sleepy, under clotheslines doesn't sound like a bad idea. I was up at the Canberra Uni today scanning around some paths and a few ditches - found some junk but nothing worth bagging. I noticed a hell of a lot of fluctuation in the readings - i haven't changed any settings at all but my Fisher...

Hi Eldorado - don't worry, I've read enough posts to pick up on the etiquette. The ground I'm digging in is basically an abandoned patch of compact earth left over from the construction of the townhouses in front of it - not expecting to find much, just practicing. I did find a 2 cent coin...

Thanks Jaros and Daniel. I was missing a pick - I'll be back tomorrow to do a bit more digging. I had a shovel but my entire weight on it didn't seem to make much of a dent in the ground so tomorrow I'll try the pick.

    Newbie from Canberra

Hi all - 100% noob here. I recently purchased a Fisher F22, based on a few reviews and the relatively low cost. I've used it once, and managed to find a beer can under about 20 cm of extremely compact dirt (yup, I put it all back). I got a few more bleeps but soon realised how very impenetrable...
