Not that they have zero support, just not much notice to take a trip so far from home.. its a 7 hour drive for us and only the weekend to get there and get back so really not feasible. If we had of had more notice we could have organised something and would have been there for sure.
Award rate is $28.20 and thats all we get paid here, we very rarely do commercial sites in our area...my daughter is on $29.75 at the reject shop... but it is still a decent wage but can be dangerous at times
I do agree with that OzzieAu, I worked in the construction industry 30 years ago and most OHS was done by common sense, sadly though it is lacking these days
Mmm I am one of those so called over paid lollypop holders and I can tell you that the job involves alot more than just standing on the road with a stop/go bat, we are also trained to be responsible for the safety of the workers and the traffic and pedestrians around us.....overpaid is a joke...

I agree, I could not think of anything worse.... 7.62 and I both live a fair distance from the fire so all good there, only been a shed destroyed so far according to the fireman I spoke to, so very lucky so far. Just need this wind to go away so they have a chance of containing it for good
The wind is the problem down this way, its been terrible since midnight last night and they just cant get them under control, they think they have, the wind picks up and off it goes again. Got evacuated from my work site today due to the one at Bomaderry which has been out of control for hours...
