I was going through my bag of small clear/yellow zircons today when I noticed that some of the small ones had a shiny outside more than the others.
They were the straw yellow zircons you find and ranged from 0.25 to 0.5 carats.
I put them under UV light and they glowed a brighter yellow than...

Specific gravity is 3.517. 4.01 dry &. 1.14 wet. So definitely a topaz. Had it looked at by a gemologist, hence the double refractive knowledge. The 4 sided prism had me excited for a little while.
Hi all
What sort of cut would you recommend for this topaz. No faults in it. Clear to yellow-ish In colour. Found at Gulgong NSW.
Bell bottom with a four side prism on top. Weight is just over 4gms.
Is double refractive for anyone who thinks this may not be a topaz.
