I found out about the digs database from another website http://digsopen.minerals.nsw.gov.au/ just select mineral exploration and put in your location. It should bring up info about gold and other deposits in your area.

Most likely coastal as we have family at coffs harbour that we might drop in on, open to suggestions though.
