I never thought I'd get there, but today found the 1000th nugget from my patch. 485 pre-mod and 515 with the modded 5000 on a "dead" patch. I don't think it's quite done yet, but I'll have to weigh up the opportunity cost of eking out a few more versus spending that time looking for a new area.

I've had an Outback for a year now, it has been great for prospecting around Vic. Goes really well off the road and its safety features are top notch.

This nice specimen was on the Camp Rd, Whipstick a couple of days ago. Had been hit by a car. I stopped to take a photo as it looked dead, then it moved its head!

So far the 12x8 Evo has been doing all the finding, but I haven't had a chance to try the other coils yet. I'm sure the 15" Evo would unearth something interesting and maybe also the 12" Evo...Another bloke on Youtube uses the mod with larger coils and has had some impressive results...

Appreciate your honesty. The modded 5000 may even beat the 6000 on small gold also...I haven't done the tests or comparisons with a 6000 operator...but I've had a least 10 digs of disbelief, in just the first 5 weeks of owning it, digging ghost or faint ground signals that basically didn't...

Perhaps...but my modded 5000 beats the 6000...0.5 grammer at 1 foot was a very faint signal in hard clay, a 6000 user nearby tried it and couldn't hear a thing...

Sure..got heaps of photos..If I get to 1000, I'll write a story for Gold, Gem and Treasure! Standard GPX5000 with NF Evo coils found the first 485, now I've had the Detectronics Mod on the 5000 for about 5 weeks and I've found another 240 so far...where I couldn't get any more with the standard.

They are pretty small, biggest 1 gram...but they all add up :) about 145 grams so far...

My recent 725 nugget patch in that area would suggest that it is not all gone?...patch size is still growing, I'm hoping to get to 800 nuggets at least...
